hi ppl ! smile.gif

im helping my gf's bro to fix his m1210 with overheating problem.

so first, when he brought back his laptop from aus, the Dell bootscreen wouldnt even boot up, nothing is on the screen, so i tot it might be the monitor or something, so i hooked it up to an external lcd panel, it only boots up on xp safe mode, not even normal mode. So something is strange. After that, i opened up the laptop, and cleaned the heatsink & fan, and i saw these two thermal pads. LoL.. i only cleaned it, but i still haven replace the thermal paste yet. so after that i boot it up. ok.. it still wont boot the dell bootscreen. but after some tries, it finally did, but the both dell bootscreen and XP logo bootscreen has vertical lines on it, and while in windows, the mouse has checkers a-alike lines on it where ever i move it to. Sooner or later, everything went fine... back to normal.. so i reformatted the whole thing and checked the temp with speedfan, GPU idle is around 50~60, CPU also 50~60.

now im loading memtest to stress both cpu and RAM, it seems that the temp of CPU and GPU hovers around 65 ~ 73 C on a laptop cooling pad, FAN room.

So what i want to know, is the the temp back to normal? perhaps after i replace the thermal paste it would be better? hehe.. oh yeah, can i replace the thermal pads with aluminium foils? and put thermal paste on them. will that be better? coz it's hard for me to get copper plates here where i live... smile.gif thanks if someone could answer me these questions. Thank you!

something is wrong with the 3D card,do the spec come with 7400?

ya... the 3d card is bad... i have my conclusion already, the graphic card is faulty, and yes it's a 7400.

since the card is on board... so is there a way that the card can be fixed or replaced? worse come to worse, mobo have to be replaced, how much will that cost then? sad.gif
