android8 update comes with a new security patch.

if u r using androidtv apps a lot, better update.

update also handle sideloads better, less troublesome, more optimized.

Yes, this update android8 does not allow u to read ext hdd with vlc, archos, kodi direct.

It was the same with old model android5 and 6.

Android7 allowed it but it is unlcear why that was so.
Still, not all is lost. For playback, u still can:

.. use tv native player app.
.. use es file explorer, choose play with vlc, audio is aac2.0 whatever file.
.. use es file explorer, choose play with kodi; if pass thru and transcoding set, u get dolby 5.1.

No easy wasy to return to android7... u shud contact sharp service, see if they do it for u.

I hv used himedia q10pro for 1.5 years now.

For local playback, it is among the best players u can find.

More so if u r into big full bluray 4k hdr files with hd audio.

To my eyes, himedia q10pro native player output is superior to kodi app player... or any other app player.

Tv player.. to me, it is poor enuf that i never use it!

Android version is fine, 7.0; just dun buy anything android 5 or even 6 now since android 9 is already launched.
