means the sony is better?

I’ve got the 50-6800X in Jan 2019 and was checking out the Sony equivalent (X7500F). Price is slightly higher with 55’’ option but was turned off by the fact it was running Android 6 (big difference in terms of interface). I asked if it can run Android 7 was told not at the moment, I asked 2 different Harvey outlets. Same reply. I’m very happy with the 6800, nice display and good stable Android OS and apps.
*correction: check the 55”-x9000f Sony today feb 16 - it’s running Android 7 but the interface looks like sharp‘s
Android 6。Read on internet that Sony has its own interface diff from original OS.

I’ve also got the sharp 4K 630X from 3 years ago which is still working fine. So far Sharp Android tv has been good in terms of their software updates (took efffort to do it constantly), 630X was updated from v4 to v6. Kodi just got updated again this week !

I’m now looking for a 55” or 60”, thinking should I get a Sony instead. I understand Sony has the direct LED compare edge with Sharp. Not sure the difference is that big but content wise 4K content is not widely available, even Netflix 4K content mostly doesn’t look that genuinely 4K for most of them. So I’m not sure if the display difference is that huge.

Software and OS updates is another consideration. Anyone heard reviews about or tried recent Sony Android TVs before ? Are they good in terms of durability and software updates? Would love to know about this. With Sharp Android TV 630x, it even beat the lifespan my Android TV box, which I find so difficult to update apps and OS (can’t update at all). I would also choose an Android TV over those Smart TV with better display any day as the “not so” Smart TV apps are so restricted (can’t install common android apps like KODI and most apps are really of no use). Of course, not forgetting chromecast feature which is so useful on Android TVs only, not on the “not so” smart tv (unsure if I’m 100% right here) . Also IMO, no point having the best display when you are only watching ASTRO HD and have to find ways externally (which may not be legal ! smile.gif ) to look for very good content.

Sharp Msia just launched also the AL1 models replacing the 6800. Can’t see much the difference, notice the new models is much lighter in weight compare to the 6800s though.

Is there a remote control app (Android/Apple) available for the UA6800X ? There's a Sharp app but can't use it, both Android and Apple.
