Direct flight MAS is about 2000 round trip
ANA to Itami via Narita is about 2500 round trip

Lol... I’m asking for advice on whether I should arrive in New Chitose and depart Tokyo and travel in between via Shinkansen/train, not whether it’s hassle free or not

I just want to know what’s the best plan if I were to spend 15 days (9 days Hokkaido and 6 days Tokyo including 2 days Disneyland)?
I’m doing multicity it’s just because My son wants to experience the Shinkansen but that comes at the expense of 1 day spent on just train rides, I’m sure he’ll like it but 8 hours seems like an overkill?
But if I don’t do it, I won’t be able to fit in a Shinkansen ride anywhere in my itinerary
The shortest Shinkansen ride I think is Hakodate to Aomori, with that I might as well take all the way to Tokyo
Any suggestions?

Yes, so it is a little strange in the sense that you book for 1 Adult, but get a room with 2 beds. If you price the same twin-room for 2 Adults then the price goes up, hence I booked it as 1 Adult.

These bookings have no meals or breakfast

Would love to get recommendations on the railpass. Since i'll be in tokyo most of the time, i cant seems to find the railpass dedicated to tokyo only. Those that i found are intercities or doesnt cover tokyo. Been looking at klook already btw

3. Bought return ticket to fly with Cathay.

KUL > HK via Cathay Dragon / transit in HK for 2 hours / HK > TKY via Cathay Pacific
Same thing for departure from Tokyo.

However upon arrival to the airport and trying to drop baggage at Cathay's counter, we were informed that the flight was overbooked. Cathay offered to transfer us to MAS for direct flight to Tokyo, arriving 3 hours earlier compared to us taking Cathay. Accepted and flew to TKY with MAS.

On return, it was Cathay Pac >> transit >> Cathay Dragon. The trip with CP was good, everything was fine. However Cathay Dragon was a little disappointing. While i understand it's 'budget' airline, there was very poor ventilation. A lot of passengers were fanning themselves in the aircraft and it was really suffocating. One of the cabin crew constantly climbed up to help push the luggage inside for the overhead compartment and her super short skirt is really an uncomfortable sight for families.

Karuizawa or Nikko or Kawagoe is worth more for a day trip from Tokyo? 

Kawagoe is nearer but seems like the main attraction is only the Kurazukuri Street.

Nikko is quite a distance away but more attractions to see.

Karuizawa is quite a distance away as well but not so much of tourists compared to Nikko.
