I have checked with Apple, all iphone 8 and iphone x bought overseas can claim warranty at malaysian authorised service center.

If u buy there with tax free it converts to only 4800 malaysian ringgit. No problems with the carrier since japanese iphones have more bands than other countries. Only downside is the shutter sound when use camera.

Japanese phones always like to print the carriers' name like Docomo, you sure has international warranty?
*
That one if u buy with carrier but iphones never have carrier branding. Apple store ones are all sim free phones. No carrier branding.

of course worth the risk
the question is not whether worth to buy or not, but whether you can find stock or not
people wait in line everyday for a week also cant get it

Now can easily.

Currently using my Japanese iphone x with malaysian sim, shutter sound is there. The only way to make s more subtle sound is to turn on the live photos. It wont be sound loud.

I was in Japan first of Dec. Seeing the crowd in Apple store mainly speak Chinese, chinese kids hogging iPhone X display units. Lost the buying mood already.

I thought I teleported to Apple Store China.

I was there in line to buy 2 and pick up the other 2 i preordered on third november. The PRC is very shameful. Smoking, cutting queues, argue with security because they went away to sleep in their hotel. Worst is they use old people to line up just to resell.
