recently bought a hair dryer from japan and did not check the power rating its rated at 100 v 50-60hz

came back and plugged it in to our 220v power supply and smoked it...

is there any way to have this repaired in malaysia?

its those panasonic enanoe hair dryer ... quite expensive and was stupid to not check the power rating before using it in malaysia

anyone know if this can repaired and to use it i need a step down power converter(Where can i get one of this?)

Can get step down power converter in Ace hardware.

The microchip electronics have probably been fried. Those are not easy to replace, I don't know of electronic repair shops - go ask Ace.

The converter you can find at electrical shop. As for the repair, better send it to Panasonic authorize center, but I doubt they will repair this kind of thing.

panasonic enanoe hair dryer bought from japan?
if panasonic does not sell the same model here locally, might mean there is no replacement parts for it.......so, better go check at electrical shop if have the same model or just go to panasonic service centre and ask if it can be repair or not first, good luck to you.

Not worth spending the money to repair it. Just get a new one.

Walao... why did you buy such an expensive utility item? Not like the brand power can make you more fancy - it just dries your hair. You can try going to the local panasonic service centre and see if they do repairs but chances are, you just gotta suck it up.

You can find it here.

u buy 100v machine, plug into 240v local power.

after repair also no use, need to buy extra this and that to make it work.
better off donut it to someone from japan

you can post pictur in /k to show disassembled board.
if replace a few caps, should be easy.

if u lucky, it only burnt some generic diode or resistor on the circuit board.

if diode, resistor, capacitors, can get for few cents in electrical shop.
if IC burnt, then have to hunt for parts on taobao or aliexpress, likely easier to buy new.
