Ok guys, I noticed that I had to use my face to unlock the faceID, only all the notification will properly show who messaged me in WhatsApp, messengers etc.

Refer to the screenshot to see what I initially mean.
So can I actually make it to be able to view who message me in WhatsApp etc together with message content without r the need to use my face to unlock?

Because sometime my phone’s screen light up, so I will just peep at it with my eyes to see who messaged me and whether or not important to reply, otherwise I will just ignore it.

Now I have to purposely held up the phone to check. Very troublesome sweat.gif

hi iPhone X user... how's the compatibility of your apps installed on your phone? i think until now not all apps can support iPhone X screen which will end up the interface didn't showed in full screen... and there will be a black frame on the top and bottom of the screen. I still cannot decide which model to get... either 8 Plus or X... but this screen compatibility issue is a big drawback for me as the apps will look smaller (im currently using 7 Plus)...

any thoughts from u guys?
*
I guess it's the usual, some apps are already updated some not. No issue for me, it took me a week or so to adapt to the 'smaller' display of the ip-x - I came from a note 5 which has a 5.7" 2K screen.

I was previously Note 8 as well, but running at FHD, but battery life is still not on par my iPhone X. Currently i can go on the whole day and still have 30+ % battery while the Note will be around 10-15%.
*
Looks like I made the right move upgrading from note5 to ipx instead of note8 thumbup.gif

Smaller form factor, more pocketable, longer standby time, snappy little fcuker, ticks most if not all my requirements.

Painful for the wallet, though.

meltdown and spectre - something to worry about?

Apple said it had already released "mitigations" against Meltdown in its latest iPhones and iPad operating system update - iOS 11.2 and the macOS 10.13.2 for its MacBooks and iMacs.

Meltdown does not affect the Apple Watch, it said, as the bug was an issue with Intel processors which are not contained in that device.

U r doomed my friend. Once in the Apple ecosystem, cannot leave. Make sure u transfer all ur contacts, notes etc in iCloud. Photos and videos stick back to google photo. Remember to perform iCloud backups.
Next time when u buy a new iPad or upgrade to x+, u will see the magic of the ecosystem.
*
No worries there, buddy. I've been on an ip6 for 2 years now (work phone) so I'm well prepared.

I don't need the full Apple 'seamless user' experience so am still keeping my stuff in my Google account. iCloud's only for phone and appdata backups.

No issues going back to Android if I have to, maybe one day when an iphone costs 10K ha ha.

So I got an iPhone X recently and looking to rectify the measly 5W adapter situation. I do not want to get into fast charging because I dont really want to spend that much money on a cable and an adapter. But I'd still like to get the maximum juice without fast charging. People recommend the 12W iPad charger which delivers power through 5V/2.4A if I'm not mistaken. I'd have gotten that except I want a charger with more than 1 USB port. So I got to doing some research and found this.
https://www.unipro.my/Aukey/aukey-pa-u36-4-...-charging-black
Its a 40W 8A charger. With that power I think it will deliver the full 5V/2.4A even if two phones were connected at the same time.
But then I came across this.
http://www.siyoteam.com/index.php?m=Home&c...&catid=14&id=76
This massive guy is a 50W 10A 8 port charger. The thing that caught my attention was that it will deliver 6.5-9V/2A & 9-12V/1.5A. So I wanted to know what is the limit of the power that a regular apple USB to lightning cable will handle? And will the iPhone X charge at 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A?
*
You get what you pay for.

I have a 2 port 2.4A LDNIO charger and a 3 port 2.4A Aukey charger. The Aukey's charging performance is more consistent and the product itself is physically more solid.

30W 3 port (what I have) = Lazada Link

40W 4 port model = Lazada Link

I read somewhere that not all third party QC chargers are supported by the new iPhones, so best ask the seller or someone else with the said chargers just to be safe.
*
I go for normal 5V/2.4A (i.e. 12W) chargers instead of Qualcomm Quick Charge or other proprietary fast charging power blocks.

For aukey chargers, that means those with green holes instead of orange ones smile.gif

Im getting similar times with my Samsung wireless charger. So I dont really bother with wireless charging right now.
*
I only use wireless charging for casual/adhoc power top up. One pad at the office and one beside my home PC.

I still charge using cable overnight for that fresh full battery in the morning smile.gif

I'm getting a weird problem too.. Not an ipx issue per se, though.

I can't remotely enable hotspot on my ip6 from the ipx, and vice versa. Both phones are logged in with the same apple and icloud IDs and the hotspot password is the same too.

Had the issue after 11.2 and still having it now with 11.2.5 beta 3.

Dunno why.

Hmmmm....this sounds like a new issue...let me try on my ip6s and I’ll update you my findings
*
Did some googling and it's seemingly due to icloud. Most common suggestion is to log out from icloud on both phones and login again.

I've done that once and it fixed the issue (on 11.2.1) and now it's back after I updated to 11.2.5 beta 3.

Lazy to do the logout / login / setup icloud thing.. bangwall.gif

Wah.. Dont need to charge it overnight. Overcharging will shorten your battery lifespan.
*
Bad habit from Android days. Don't really bother anyway, I'm not so OCD.

In fact, I ran the battery life app on my 2 year old work ip6, which I've abused like hell - charged multiple times a day, left on ipad charger overnight since day 1, dropped a few times, left screen on for 2 hours plus to download my whole 30GB spotify collection after factory reset etc..

My battery is still 99%, reportedly.

Not really, for me. I've had my phone in a case since day 1. Still, I can see some micro scratches on the back glass under a really bright light.

As I said, I'm not so OCD about my phone ha ha. I'm the master not the slave. It's a phone not a baby. I think my camera SP has also dropped or peeled off some time ago.

I dont trust the app. Manually close it and reopen and u will get different readings.

I actually have a cheapo plastic sp for the back. My jet black ip7+ had micro scratches at the back even though it was in the case all of the time.
*
Rebooted my ip6. Same result on the raw data for batt. No worries la, Apple will release iOS with battery reporting capability soon so I can check again then.

Ok peeps been using my x for 2 days now.

Battery life seems pretty crappy so far and when I checked the usage history, the mail app seems to take up 30-40% of the battery consumption, which is very odd.

Anyone faced such an issue before?
*
My ip-X has 4h15m standby now (7:05am to 11:20am) and 1h23m usage. Battery is at 91%. On data only, Celcom 4G. Wifi always on, BT always on.

Top 2 power suckers = FB is 28% (41min on screen) and Spark is at 16% (mail app with 5 gmail accounts, 16min on screen).

Not bad, my work ip6 is already down to 84% battery. I don't use the Apple mail app on both my ip-X and ip-6.

To be honest the ip-X has the best battery life vs all my previous smartphones.

Thing is, I only have 1 mail account on the app but yet it's still sucking up battery like mad. Mail retrieval has always been set to fetch at 30 minute intervals.
*
What email account type is it? Google too?

Have you considered trying a different mail client/app just for testing? I can't recall now, but I might have moved to Spark due to something I didn't like in the Apple mail app. UI or battery drain or something else.

Just updated to 11.2.2 last night.

So far these are the only issues i faced on the latest ios:

1) Battery somewhat no difference or maybe more weak / still drain out like in 11.2.1
2) Whatsap, outlook and other apps show no notification at all (when go in, there appear so many unread msg's)
3) No battery icon, just appear 4G / 3G only (after restart iphone X then ok already)
4) Most apps takes time to open in a slowly fashion manner.
Have un-installed my whatsap, and installed back again but still facing same issue as in point (2).
Any of you guys experience the same thing too?
*
1) I am using 11.2.5 beta 4 - feels not much different than 11.2.1 (11.2.2 has just been released btw).
2) No problem with notification - I enable background refresh for all my chat and mail apps and banner/lockscreen/badge notifications.
3) Have not experienced missing batt icon on the top right ear of screen.
4) No slowness, way faster than same app launching on my ip6

Batt saving mode enabled or disabled?
Have you tried a full factory reset and re-setup?
Or maybe some issue with your phone - bring to service center?

It is good to know any of you with Intel modem can get good GPS reception. I can blame my car tint for attenuate the signal but that's not my experience with Qualcomm modem, even my friends(5-6 that I know with Intel modem) either playing pokemon or navigation confirm my claim. Ya I am getting particular on this esp this is my 2nd year suffering this.
*
I have an ipx (local set, intel modem?) and ip6 (local set, qualcomm modem?).

Maybe I am not so observant but I've used both for Waze and GMap navigation in Klang Valley and Penang with no major difference in locational accuracy.
