Sure, Dante isn't as good as he was in DMC3(yes I'm serious) but his combos probability is defintiely no less than Nero.

QUOTE(MmxZero @ Feb 13 2008, 11:39 PM) Whooo... that may take a while, I only have 4 missions S ranked on DMD.Japs are pretty nuts at this game, especially Brea - one of the best DMC3 players around is tearing the game upside down. |

Stylish play tips:
- Taunt at the appropriate time - Mix up your combos - Usage of Exceed(both IRing and Max-Acting) is a MUST for Nero - Jump Cancelling, Table Hopping and DTing are a great way to improving your style gauge - Do not spam Buster like no tomorow, its damaging yes but doing it often will result in unstylish play Finally, practise and practise and practise. Learn your enemies well, their weakpoints especially. |

Don't spam your taunts. Do take a heavy note that Nero's taunts are much more slower than Dante's are, with this in mind taunt only when it is safe to do so. Nero's taunts needs to go through almost the entire taunt animation(be whatever it is) to raise the style gauge.
Not nessasary to finish off your enemies and then only taunt however. If theres a group of scarecrows(a pack of 4-6 usually), you could unleash a reasonably long combo on a scarecrow first, taunt the entire group of them(don't use lock-on when doing so) and then finish your job. Once taken out the entire group, taunt again for some spice. Its up to you when you want to taunt, but do it stylishly as in make use of the taunt like a finishing salute. Taunting, last-minute dodging(or table hopping if you have it purchased for Nero) and enemy stepping, all adds up Nero/Dante's devil trigger. I haven't started BP yet as I am currently going through HAH mode. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Feb 14 2008, 02:44 PM |

Easy-auto blows, completely destroys the gameplay IMO.
Most moves can be IRed when the animation is near its end. For example, Streak can be IRed as soon as the sword reaches its peak vertical slash. Its not hard once you get the hang of it. |

I completed the game in under 10 hours first time through on DH mode.Thing is, mastering the game is going to take weeks or even months. I'm very sure theres still quite a bit of stuff yet to be discovered in DMC4. |

QUOTE(infe_red555 @ Feb 16 2008, 06:00 AM) HAH mode dosen't seem that challenging ... One hit kill to all enemies ... I bet this is where ur guns do all ur dirty work .. You can hardly do any combo because one hit shot or kill .. is all you need. Time to go clear more modes ... I am still waitting for a Bloody palace walktrough. Dude... you are getting it wrong.HAH mode = Hell and Hell, YOU die in one hit, enemies don't. HOH mode = Heaven or Hell, EVERYTHING(save for except Blitz/Sanctus and a few others for their shield) dies in one hit. |

Just wondering .... whats the best way to get pride orbs beside doing all ur missions in s rank. IMO, the easiest way to gain pride souls would be fighting Sanctus on easy mode. Just get his healt down to 1 bar or so then restart the mission. Instant 1000 proud souls guaranteed.Well it still freaking sucks that Lady made so little appearance in DMC4. Damn capcom! |

Not quite, theres a formula involved actually.
Each mission has a SET amount of points given and the end of the mission. It doesn't matter on what difficulty you are, each mission will give a set amount of points in the end. For example, Mission 1 will give 500 points guaranteed regardless of your Time, Style and Orb rank. With that said, theres also multipliers involved for the ranks you get on Time, Style and Orbs. So: - Clear Time S Rank = x3.0 multiplier A Rank = x2.5 B Rank = x2.0 and so on, the substraction of 0.5 per rank. Orbs Found S Rank = x2.0 multiplier A Rank = x1.75 B Rank = x1.5 and so on, the substraction of 0.25 per rank. Bonus & Penalty No Damage = x1.5 multiplier No Item Used = x1.25 Continue Used = x0.80 Enemy Lvl Down = x0.80* Gold Orbs Used = x0.70 Super character Used = x0.20 So lets take Mission 01 on Dante Must Die mode for an example: Time Cleared - S Rank Style - 1611 Orbs Found - S Rank(97%) Bonus & Penalty - No Damage It will sum up to: (Clear Bonus + Style Points) x Clear Time x Orbs Found x Bonus & Penalty or ( 500 + 1611) x 3.0 x 2.0 x 1.5 Total Points = 18999, S Rank for M01 DMD Mode since the S rank requirement is 18000 points. * I need to appologize for a mistake I posted in my earlier post. Enemy lvl down is actually a penalty, not a bonus. An E-LVL down is actually continuing a mission from death 3 or more times, enemies will be weaker than they are supposed to be. This would mean, Enemy Level Down. |

Doesn't matter how much damage you get(eventhough if you don't get damaged, it'll be easier as you will score the full x1.5 multiplier from bonus and penalty), how many orbs found, or just how badly you play. No problem
Just remember as long as you have S rank in time and in Style along with a no item bonus, theres a pretty high chance you would score an S rank for the mission. |

QUOTE(Breaktru @ Feb 19 2008, 12:02 AM) B in Orbs would most certainly give you an S.75% orbs found accounts to an A, so I don't think it would be too hard anyways. Just hit as many things as you can see without sacrificing too much time. Time is arguably the most important factor when aiming for an S. Though there can be occasions where even if you score an A for time and an S for style, you can still get an S on that mission. |

Usage of I-frames to its fullest extent is needed. Table Hopper in HAH is crucial!
I'm still stuck on mission 9, all thanks to that mofo Angus. |

Hey guys, I was running a small experiment on the game yesterday on how its ranking system works(no this isn't the requirements for each mission per se).
I ran through a few missions(M06 and M17) on DMD with Nero/Dante. For mission 04, what I did was backtrack the entire mission to collect orbs as in break every single object, combat adjudicator and red orb crystals then farm style points like no tomorow in secret missions and what not. I got a D in the Time rank(obviously), but indeed I got S in both Style and Orbs Found. My end result? I miraculously got an S eventhough my Style points is just 1k+ more than the set requirement for S ranking Style. I can't confirm anything yet, but it looks like the game has a sort of "hidden style points" meter. As in eventhough you don't get style points in secret missions and breaking red crystals, your style gauge STILL goes up. The game looks at this as an addition to your points. I did the same with Dante for mission 17 and it appears to do the same thing as well. Will try to do more experiments on the ranking system when I have time. |

Alright, experimented a little bit more on the scoring system of the game.
This time though, I played Mission 10(the first Sanctus fight) on DMD. So initially I just go around, farm as much style points as I can, get every single orb in the level(its really easy to get 100% in M10) and do it in the quickest time possible. Now, during the Sanctus fight, I continued to farm as much style points as I can while in the meanwhile letting Sanctus beat me up as much as possible. My point is to use an item to see if I can get an S rank still or not. I did a little bit of mistake during the second part of the fight however where I forgot to buster The Savior's punch onto the ground. Killed me in one hit So I might as well just used the Gold Orb, fine enough. Finished the fight with Sanctus, and voila...! S - Time, S - Style, S - Orbs = S Ranked with penalty of a Gold Orb Used I can confirm that Style points has the biggest effect on getting an S rank. Since Style Points + Mission Points Bonus multiplied by the Style Points multiplier.(each mission has a fixed bonus points at the end of it) |

QUOTE(RaFaLe @ Mar 2 2008, 10:40 PM) U guys are competent player of DMC..i played evry night since i got it last saturday, now on 8th mission..never get even A for time score..how u guys did it? "S" score One small tip for you, know the entire mission inside out. Try to memorize the paths of each mission and try to forge your own strategy to take on the mission from the start. Since this is your first time through, I suggest you just take it easy and finish the game first. Human and Devil Hunter mode don't require too much style farming to get an S, but rather you need to be fast instead because of the stricter time requirements for an S. |
