My tools are written in the siggy. Minus the FL-50 and diffuser as I haven't bought them when I took those pictures.
Thanks for the comment. |

Nice!
1 question, how do you get such a consistent lighting on the subject on macro shot? Macro Ring Flash? I've always tried taking macro pictures but my cam will end up obstructing the lighting of the subject? |

QUOTE(m|ng @ Apr 27 2007, 08:59 AM) Nice! The pictures above are taken in broad daylight. No flash. You need to adjust your angle to get the best lighting for your picture. Furthermore, Olympus cameras do have very good metering of the whole frame. Coupled with just a bit of PS and it will be perfect.1 question, how do you get such a consistent lighting on the subject on macro shot? Macro Ring Flash? This shot is just to capture the overall look of the waterfall. No tripod at that time some more so cannot do slow shutter shots.

Well, my little camera can't tweak the temperature. Some more that time didn't think about doing manual WB. That place damn dark some more and too crowded.

QUOTE(Joshua_0718 @ May 24 2007, 03:14 PM) I m noob in photography. How to shoot this? Using macro? The ship so far away also blur, i tot macro for near object? Use the lowest aperture value and more zoom. Focus on your subject and the rest will be blurred naturally.FYI, I always set my camera to macro mode when taking pictures. |

I shoot anything with macro, even landscapes. It seems that I might get sharper pictures by using macro mode all the time.

QUOTE(CompMac @ Jun 19 2007, 04:57 PM) Just wanna induce the mood that marriage is a very relaxing and happy moment. No need to be so sharp and harsh. Not necessary la... the soft effect very pleasing, just like a Gaussian blur through PS, sometimes portrait looked great with softness too... NICE! Maybe I did too much softening. Will try to reduce the softness a bit next time. |

I just wanna show people that it is the person behind the camera that is more important than the gears. However, there will always be limitations on prosumers that only dSLRs can handle. I don't see there is a purpose to emphasis a non-DSLR can peform the same or better than a DSLR, this is only make you relief that you are not drop behind by other people.Nonit to get intimidated by guys in Big Lenses and Big SLR's and loud Mechanical click No matter how good the photographer is, the hardware limit still cannot be changed, the difference is whether you HAVE FULLY UTILIZE your camera. However, Compmac has shown his talent and use his prosumer well, his pic tells us that don't blame your camera if you cannot take a good picture. |

QUOTE(CompMac @ Jun 20 2007, 09:49 PM) My camera also can click one, just off the shutter sound and you will hear the mechanical click. I just wanna show people that it is the person behind the camera that is more important than the gears. However, there will always be limitations on prosumers that only dSLRs can handle. I'm on my path towards that (Olympus E-510 Thanks for viewing the pictures. I dont know about you but 1 thing i face with mine is.. Dynamic rance too Narrow.. Picture Clips too easily.. |

QUOTE(m|ng @ Jun 21 2007, 12:12 PM) Lol..that 1 so soft.. Need super quiet enviroment lar Well, dynamic range is also an issue with prosumers. You can however use exposure bracketing or take a few pictures with different spot exposure and do HDR in Photoshop. A lot of work but the outcome will be dSLR quality, if not better. QUOTE(calvin_swk @ Jun 22 2007, 06:02 PM) CompMac, can guide me a lil bit on how to snap a nice pic of urs? those flower pictures are superb nice..!! more zoom will make the pic blur?? To have more bokeh (blurred background), you can either use the Super Macro Mode or more zoom at small f number. For flower pictures, don't be afraid to get close to them. Squat, lie down, kneel, or whatever, just get the composition that you want to take. Don't be afraid to be dirty or might damage the camera.Try to work with the light that you have. Photography is about the manipulation of light. A bright sunlit object will always have the best effect. Only when you don't have enough the flash is used. Always hold your breath when pressing the shutter button to avoid hand shake. Try to use the viewfinder and press against your face for a more stable hold than depending on the LCD display. It is also good practice should you go on to using a dSLR. Hope this helps. Do practice more and post more for us to comment. We are all learning everyday. |

It's got nothing to do with MP. QUOTE(calvin_swk @ Jun 26 2007, 12:57 AM) With much practice you will be able to achieve that. When I took that picture, I have used the camera for about 2 years. From the way I see it, post process is only 25% max of making a great picture. People who depends too much on post processing just don't make the cut of being a good photographer. Do you see film photographers depending on post processing but can also produce great pictures? From the way I see it, not all photos must be aligned horizontally. It all depends on how the picture is presented. For the windmills' case, I personally think there is no problem with presenting the windmills in that manner. Where's the creativity when all landscape pictures that you take are horizontally aligned? |

QUOTE(aba9785 @ Aug 2 2007, 08:59 AM) e..no offence...i think u use the wrong metering/photo metry? I don't think there is a thing like ISO value too low. The lower ISO value that you can use will be the better, right? Only bump up the ISO as the last resort for my case. I'm already using multi-metering for these pictures. Using spot will be worse and will blowout the sky even more. the last n 2nd last like not so sharp? or ISO value too low? QUOTE(diwant @ Aug 2 2007, 09:02 AM) travel photography is not easy as it seems..if normal walk- walk and point shoot is easy, but to capture a scenery that lasts forever in memory is never easy... Agree with diwant. The last 4 pictures are only normal walk-walk travel shots. The 2 previous ones are better composed and captured as I have the time and no one was in the way. There was also that "feeling" when composing the shots. |

Difficult to crop the bottom roof as cropping that will reveal another roof and it will never end until the whole town is cropped off.

A closer view of a glacier capped mountain. This picture was taken at about 2500m above sea level with outside temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. The road where this picture was taken is called Sustenstrasse in Switzerland.

QUOTE(aba9785 @ Aug 14 2007, 08:53 AM) london bridge is falling down....the old songs during kindergarden... for CompMac, i would say post more, post more, post more btw..not sure how to say...too bright? not bright enough? u got same place but with diff exposure time? QUOTE(orenzai @ Aug 14 2007, 01:46 PM) argh...i went there day time..so very bright...picture comwe out normal aje... That bridge is called Tower Bridge and not London Bridge. This bridge is the iconic bridge in London. London Bridge is quite plain and simple about a few hundreds meters away. I have other shots of Tower Bridge during day time and also when the draw bridge is opened for ships to go through. Will upload those later.aba...this is not the real london bridge..the real one is near it..that one the real name baru london bridge..but its just a normal modern bridge...this one dunno call what tower bridge i thin...forgot liao... QUOTE(Mavik @ Aug 14 2007, 02:25 PM) Ah such nice pictures, reminds me when I was traveling through Europe and the UK last time. It's a pity that during that time, I wasn't into photography so most of the nice scenery landscapes were just simply taken Then you should go there again with your camera. |

Everyone who went there does it. Young, old, guy, girl. Of course I also did.
Anyway, I've already felt lucky by having the chance to be there in person. |

Yo! Dennis here..
I love your #1 photo. But not to #3 & #4. #3 - it would look good in certain angle / composition but not this. I wish you could pay me a ticket to europe and tell you exactly which angle to take #4 - the photo looks dull to me. Probably the sky problem? Would be nice if you increase the brightness as well as the saturation.. hehe.. |

Hey Dennis!! Long time didn't contact man. Just added your Streamyx email to my MSN.
Thanks for your comments. It's difficult to get people away for #1. It is a public place after all, unless I took that in the middle of the night. #3 is just for fun actually. Saw an opening between the trees and took a telephoto shot of Big Ben. Ticket? #4 Yea, not enough contrast and saturation. The sky is to blame. Nice to hear from you again! PM me your mobile OK? Are you still in Klang? I'm now working in Seremban and maybe can yam char some time. |

i believe u should spend some time on one or two spots just to get dramatic lighting so the pictures gives impact... how about sunset at Thames river with ONLY the tower bridge in sight as an example??

That time was holidaying with wife and family, so not much time to be a "true" photographer. This time will be a bit different as I'm alone training in the UK. Definitely will be taking more "dramatic" pictures before going back to Malaysia. Thanks for the advise!! |
