The reverse is true.
Phones sold in US with Verizon or Sprint has the Qualcomm chip, which supports both CDMA and GSM. For Malaysian model, the phone is with intel chip sold ONLY support GSM. So phones sold here wouldn’t work with Verizon or Sprint in US or 电信网络 in China.
Malaysian phones with the intel chip have poorer reception compared to Qualcomm chips especially in low signal area.
This is based on the assumption that the phone is unlocked (sim free or Verizon model)

I read thru the difference between Qualcomm vs Intel chipset (modem) and it seems the US (Qualcomm) model is more compatible worldwide. Price is great as well (even for Simfree model). Very tempted to get one for my wife but worry about the warranty. Can we claim warranty of US model in Apple Store Malaysia if anything happens?

Technically, I would choose the US set. How about local market for used in Malaysia, say 2-3 years down the road, we wanted to sell iPhoneX to upgrade, is there acceptable market for used US IphoneX set?

Anyone with experience here can comment?
