any hard phone case to recommend?

Depends on your budget. Some of the better ones would be Otterbox Symmetry/Commuter, Spigen Tough Armor and UAG Plasma/Monarch.

What’s the likelihood Apple will adjust iPhone 8/X pricing in Malaysia? At current pricing just makes me scared to buy one and then few weeks later Apple drops the price. Sure feel regret.

iPhone 8 $699 = RM2723 + 6% GST
iPhone 8 Plus $799 = RM3113 + 6% GST
iPhone X = $999 = RM3893 + 6% GST
*
I think official price adjustment only happens when Apple releases new phones, so unlikely there will be any movement till September. Unofficially, there will be some promo or discounts offered by authorised resellers and online platforms. There were some good offers previously on Lazada where an iPhone 8 Plus 64GB was going for RM3,6xx. I personally bought my 256GB iPhone X for more than RM1000 off on Lazada. Anyways, there's also plenty of good deals in Garage Sale for those who don't mind buying a second hand one.

Unlikely drop more than 200 until we see new phones in September
*
There will be probably deeper discounts on the online platforms - just have to wait for the right timing to pounce smile.gif

glad you liked your case!  biggrin.gif
I'm using UAG Plasma.. good enough if you're on a budget. Monarch has double the fall protection of Plasma.
*
I think if you're on a budget, even the Plasma is out of reach biggrin.gif

RM159 for the 8 Plus right? I know it's RM20 cheaper for the iPhone X.

ok la if you dropped your phone (slightly higher/harder than usual) something outside/inside pecah.. it's gonna costs way more than RM159 to fix.

for a phone you bought for RM3k+ why wanna save this money? It's insurance for your phone basically.
*
Ya, good point thumbup.gif

In terms of how careful I am with my phones I rate my self a 8/10, but yea shit still happens.

Examples of past "accidents" with smartphones:
1. Accidently dropped from my pocket while sitting down,
2. While driving put on passenger seat the phone flew forward when emergency break..
3. Dropped from my hands accidentally due to slippery or clumsy times..
4. While carry something and holding my phone somehow lost grip of it.
5. Dropping it on the road while entering car holding it in my hands... screen protector shattered due to road's surface.

So far this iPhone 8 plus adi dropped twice lol both with UAG on.. can tell u the sound of it dropping is not as painful and "nicer" to hear... not as loud a "thud as normal case. Phone also still ok working as normal.
*
Any protection on the screen? Tempered glass?

Maybe because the official price difference between X and 8 is about RM2000. Also, i think regular consumer is willing to pay about RM3000 for a phone but not willing to go any higher than that. At RM5000, rather buy a Macbook than an iPhone X
*
My MacBook Air cost RM3.6k two years ago smile.gif

looking the price dropped for ipx.
wondering why the price for ip 8 is still so high sad.gif
*
Maybe the X is overstocked coz Apple anticipated more people would want something new, rather than the regular 8 which is now a 4-year-old design.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the tempered glass?

can’t remember exactly but around 10-20
*
Then I think the advertised 9H hardness is a mere marketing gimmick. Try a branded tempered glass (which could cost 4 or 5 times more) and you’ll see a difference biggrin.gif

hi guys, just got my iphone 8 plus, however, i noticed that the screen is warmer (aka yellow screen) than my old iphone 6 plus, i already closed true tone and nightshift, is this normal?
*
Yes, it is. You can still adjust it if you feel it’s still too warm, under Serrings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations.

Either play with the Color Filters or Reduce White Point settings.

why apple did this ..... i already get used to iphone 6 plus screen with cool color ..... sad.gif

mind to share ur color setting?
*
They think True Tone and warmer colours reflect real life situation better and less harmful to your eyes... That’s the problem with Apple, every time they feel something is better or good for you, they force it down your throat laugh.gif

Edit: Oh, and by the way, as a matter of personal preference, I do prefer the warmer tones so my display settings are at default.

true but in most cases the screen most likely will crack when the phone drops and hit the edges. anyway, i already prepared do a screen replacement at least once in the 2 years period due to damaged screen.
*
My brother-in-law kept an old iPhone 6 as a spare, and this CNY he decided to take off the casing and screen protector and use the phone naked. On the 2nd day of CNY it dropped face down onto the marble floor of his gf's house, and the screen shattered. So ya, I'm not gonna tempt fate laugh.gif

2.6gb used, 1.2GB for phone back up. 1.1gb for pictures and video.  hmm.gif

Is the phone back up usually that huge?
*
If you have a lot of apps, then yes smile.gif

X-one brand is good, not glass but full sp.
*
I personally don't like the feel of the X-One. Anyways, it's good to resist impact and scratches, but if you drop your phone there is still the likelihood that the screen will shatter.

been using iphone 8 plus for 3 days, notice that overnight battery drop around 4% (7 hours), when i using my old iphone 6 plus, the battery just drop 1% overnight, is it because the battery in iphone 8 plus smaller?
*
We had this discussion previously at the iOS 11 thread. If you charge your phone to full (100%) every night, then you can see the drop will be 0%-1%. However at various other levels, (65%, 40%, etc), the drop could be anywhere between 3%-4%.

Great deal for those looking for a 256gb iphone 8! Comes with the lightning dock FOC as well! Regret getting mine at 3999 just before CNY at Mac Studio sad.gif

Yeah, online deals are always better but very unpredictable. I bought a urbeats3 earphones with lightning connector via Lazada on Friday for RM320 (Retail at RM400) and a couple of days later, Lazada offered the same at RM303.90 for their 3-day Pay Day sale... doh.gif
