D40 picture quality is nice, no need so much touch up. I tried my fren 350D, the photo a bit dull. Anyway it's matter of preference.

400d = 10 MPx
350d = 8 MPx

400d = 9 focus points
350d = 7 focus points

400d = Auto dust cleaning
350d = Manual cleaning

These itself made me chose to buy my 400D over the 350D.

If you can splash more than RM2k for something, might as well pay that a little extra to get something better smile.gif

well... I dont mind sacrificing the extra 2mpx. Because the bigger the mpx the more noise you'll get at high ISO. And I dont need that many AF points. And the 400D's auto dust cleaning is not that effective. Manual hand cleaning is always better though not safer. tongue.gif And i dont think the 400D is anything better than tge 350D(Maybe the bigger LCD will help, but 1 should know you cant rely on the LCD too much). That's my point of view on the 400D.

Like wise. The 350D is already good enough. nod.gif

Oh well. It's a never ending debate. laugh.gif

2nd that!
400D just doesn't differ too much from the 350D, just some minor upgrades to face the competition, but are not essential to have..
if u have the budget, then go for 400D, but if u're tight on budget, u won't miss too much from buying a 350D. not to mention the price difference there should be able to get u a 50mm f1.8 lens already..

I m thinking getting a DLSR camera (newbie). Budget below 2K. Can I get the body+ kit lens at this price?

So between this model, which one offers the best picture when using it on the LOW LIGHT condition preferably with AUTO mode since I don't have much knowledge in this area.

I'm both 400D and 350D user here.. nvr put my hands on a nikon system tho..

one thing for sure, 350D is not that much big difference (in terms of usage) compared to 400d.. u'll feel the same experience holding both cameras. and yes, i think the additional fp for 400d is a bonus, but still, as for me, i dont find it as a must have.. the pics quality for me is kinda subjective. really hard to tell the differences as i always do pp for most of the pics i took..

as for the sensor cleaning, its kinda annoys me every time i start/off the camera.. donno why.. but i think its useful if u keep changing lens all the time at the 400d body. so if u plan to have many lenses with only single body, go get it (the 400d).. if not, might as well settle with the 350d, and u can even get that blower to clean ur sensor..

as for nikon d40.. i think its a great dslr camera for beginners (like me), and if u plan to jump right from pns to dslr.. no need to hassle with the bridge/prosumer cams.. but anyway, its just my assumption as i have never used nikon b4.. did test the cam tho, almost bought that too, but in the end, chose canon since i ady got a good lens to go with it.

so, to TS, have u made ur decision?

piscesguy here bought d40 ady.. congrats on ur new toy. wink.gif

Simple, if u frens all use Nikon, then go for Nikon. And vice versa.

Like me, all my frens all use Nikon so easy for them to teach me and Nikon tricks. Some more some lens can borrow and test.

U won't go wrong with either brands.

agreed on this.

don't buy a camera jus because it has 2 more mega pixel... that wasn't the point at all.
