Amature looking for a new DC here, did my noobie research and felt the specs and price ratio of the A570 IS took my soul away. But then, the size is pulling some part of it back. Why does it have to be so darn fat??? Ofcourse i dont need a answer for this question, but i really would like to know is the bulkyness unbearable, too immobile for a "compact" camera?
So A570 IS users can you voice out your opinion so that this desperate noob here can get a decent idea of which DC to get? Thanks in advance! |

its so fat bcoz it uses AA battery, got its plus and minus using AA.
for mobility yes its a bit too big, its' size is 89.5 x 64.3 x 42.8 mm = 246 246 is still pocketable if you have a big pocket, i'd say go for a compact that has size less than 150. also its not that fashionable. |

i just bought 570IS... it was fat due to used AA battery... and it not base on compact design... canon malaysia website claimed that powershot was "value for money" category and IXUS was "style & substance" category...
if u look for IXUS series, they not using AA battery which u can get from anywhere, they using specific battery... lets say u stay at outdoor more than indoor which not allowed u to charge ur IXUS battery and take plenty of photo which consume large amount of battery power, ur DC will not work if battery drained unless u can get the same battery from the camera shops which may cost u $$$... if AA battery, u can get it ANYWHERE... good for the camera users for take plenty photo and can immediately swap the battery if drained, later camera alive again... walao... if u wish to play with some picture effect, 570IS is the good choices for newbie (i think)... it can install additional lens if u like to such as Tele/Wide Converter/Close-up lens, or u can add additional flash light into ... if just look for normal usage, perhaps the lower profile of the DC or IXUS series may suit for u... if u look for more features and better pic quality, size doesnt matter... EOS size like a roti bread... |

Hi there
First of all, I don't know about the quality of the A570IS compared with other digicams as I haven't tried others and I just got this camera as my secondary cam The reasons I chose to buy this digicam recently is because of the IS and also the manual controls I have done my rounds and found no other camera that is within my budget (<RM1k) with IS/VR/OIS and still have manual controls (Aperture, Shutter Speed, Manual Focus) Specifications and Features-wise, this camera is above average compared with other cameras At first I thought the size is just nice for me (I have a dSLR and I needed a digicam for me to carry it around; I can't possibly bring my dSLR with me everywhere I go) But after that, I found that the camera is still too big for me to bring around I can't put it into my pant's pockets, except for my jeans which have enormous pockets I found myself hand carrying it more than putting it in a bag or in my pocket This camera is still very good for that price range Also, I find the result of the video record function very satisfying, although the sound quality of the video can be much better |

QUOTE(chang3rd @ Apr 27 2007, 03:39 AM) perhaps u can purchase a small bag to hang on ur body around, some more can keep some accessories such as battery, cleaning clothes, etc in the bag... here to effect i taken from 570IS, i set shutter priority if not mistaken... ![]() |

Bigger size better, more stable to hold compare to slim cameras, everytime handholding a slim cam it feels like it's going to fall off from my hand, damn scary!

May I know what is the main differences between the A710IS and A570IS?? Is A570IS better then A710IS?? If yes then who will going to buy the RM200++ more A710IS??
The pro of the A570IS over the A710IS - Better Imaging Processor (DIGIC III vs DIGIC II) - Higher ISO (1600 vs 800) - Face Detection Technology - Better Storage types (SD/SDHC vs SD/MMC) - Better aperture range The pro of the A710IS over the A570IS - Better Macro focus range (1cm vs 5cm) - Better Zoom power (6x vs 4x) What else??
