QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 3 2023, 01:24 PM) the trip meter will only be affected if the diameter of the tire is changed because the tire will either roll more / less to travel the same distance that was originally factory programmed. but the 45 is an aspect ratio relative to width no? that means wider width will affect the height as well? so bigger diameter and slightly more cushion.changing the width of the tire will not affect the trip meter enough to notice a difference BUT will return with a slightly worse fuel consumption because you now have more surface contact with the road. traditionally, tire comfort does not relate to its width but rather the height of its side wall (eg: the ability to absorb undulation with compression), the taller/thicker the side wall, the more comfortable the ride becomes. if i have to assume how the width of the tire affects ride comfort then it would be the wider the tire, the more uncomfortable because you now feel more of the road thanks to the extra surface contact. QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 3 2023, 02:00 PM) it's the side wall (aspect ratio) that takes from the width and not the other way around therefore:- this is exactly what i meant, because earlier you said the width doesn't affect the height of sidewall but clearly it does and i wanna to know from those who has done this how much it affect the speedo and comfort level.if width is 215 then the side wall is 96; or if width is 225 then the side wall is 101. I know there are ppl who went for 225/40 but the ride becomes more bumpy so again i like to know in real life whether the 45 bring some improvements compare to stock size. |

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 3 2023, 05:46 PM) i didn't mention it so specifically because it was obvious enough, the changes in the sidewall between 215 and 225 is so miniscule that i don't think you can even measure it without using a scientific tool (4.5mm) *pfft* - trying to ascertain the difference in comfort level with a difference of 4.5mm side wall is nitpicking already. Thank you for the detailed sharing, this is more like what i am looking for, a real life experience of the difference.if there are people who tell you "oh! the comfort in 225/40 is better than 215/40" is probably suffering from a placebo. as for the trip meter, i reiterate that as long as the overall diameter of the tire remains largely the same, the trip meter will not be affected. speaking from the experience of a person who had already switched between, 16's, 17's and 19's, i can tell you, there will be close to no difference in ride comfort between 16's and 18's. 19's on the other hand is from a different breed and will rattle your spine. for the Mazda3, it's not so much on the tires but the torsion beam rear setup - my Altis that runs on 225/45/R17 rides indefinitely better than the 206/60/R16 that i'm currently running on. Edit: given the difference in width is also small, we wouldn't actually expect noticeable different in terms of comfort degradation right? QUOTE(Jedi @ Apr 3 2023, 07:59 PM) Ppl upsize bec 215 45 18 is so rare to find in tyre shops hence more expensive compared to 225 45 18 Yes one of the reason I am looking is also because 215 is rare and expensive. Negligible difference of 2 percent for stability and cornering if u check reddit. Someone posted the stats mazda3 subreddit Comfort no difference. But turanza to ps4 before ps5 came out. Stability, corner, confidence, road noise (yes surprisingly) is much better. U mean the tuaranza is quieter than ps4? Wow. I tot the tuaranza is noisy and harsh. I have ps4 on my altis I find it quite comfy but then it’s 16 inch Edit: reread again ur sentence I guess u mean ps4 is quieter. That makes sense coz I find the pilot sport some of the quieter tyre This post has been edited by EpsilonStar: Apr 3 2023, 08:04 PM |

QUOTE(phantomash @ Apr 4 2023, 12:12 AM) 225 45 have slightly taller sidewall, hence should be comfier (if any difference) in most cases. I suppose you also went with 225 ps5?I switched to PS5, the grip is on another level, you will feel much more planted in all scenarios, especially wet road. In terms of noise, my experience is lower range frequency but slightly louder than stock Turanza. I heard PS5 is noisier than PS4, so I guess it make sense that PS4 quieter than Turanza. |

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Feb 7 2025, 04:34 PM) PPF'ing the entire car in this category is not worth it - if at all, you PPF all the entire piano black interior (SKIP THE METER CLUSTER!) the front bumper, your side mirror covers and the door handle bowls (high traffic area), the rest of the parts, you #livewithit. why skip the meter clusters? it is also easily scratched.the first chip is always the hardest, it gets easier over time. 5/6 years down the road when you put your down payment for your new car and realize your trading in price is crap, you'll be glad that you didn't spent close to RM10k PPF'ing the car. |

QUOTE(squareballs @ Jun 6 2025, 01:26 PM) If i am not mistaken, Nappa leather is just a term like genuine leather, where there is no real definition what is a nappa leather. It's just a softer leather in nature, could be good or bad leather as well.So with a loose definition, people can claim it's nappa leather as they like. |
