Unlikely, even when the Macbook is off, a small current is used to power the hardware.

I always get 100%, it even remains at 100% once it hit 100% when I'm using it plugged in. The Macbook starts charging when it is lower than 95% and stops when it reached 100%. After that it uses power from the plug.

Mine is having 99% all the time, ocassionally 100%. Any explanation? And for longer battery life, I read in the IBM threads about setting maximum limit to 80% and recharging at 30%. But that's windows, any cooments?

It cannot be the signs the battery going 'kaput' coz I've just bought my MB a week ago. There could be some other explanations why is it measuring 99% when fully charged? What bothers me is that some of them here are getting 100%?

Nope nothing to do with the tempreture.. For those who are getting 99% on the meter, try to drain the battery and then charge it to the max and let it stay there for another hour or so. It seems to work for me, getting 100% now smile.gif
Apparently, this procedure is in the operational manual, recommended to be done once a while. Supposedly to keep the battery above 80% of its original capacity after 300 charges.
Anyone has any comments about my earlier posting, to stop charging at 80% and start recharging at 30% to keep the battery tip-top? Can the MacBook configure such settings in the battery option?

The reason why your macbook shows Fully Charged even at 99% is because you might have disrupted its charging process at 99% (charger switched off etc) and the reason why it wouldn't resume at 99% is because that's how macbooks handle charges.. if you try to resume charging at 98 or 99% it wouldn't do so to prevent OVERCHARGING. Overcharging is common for affecting battery performance and batteries that are Overcharged too often would have lower battery capacity as time goes on.

Have you tried calibrating the battery

After fully charged use it on battery until the warning that battery is too low and macbook goes to sleep. Wait for 5 hours then charge it fully.
