I am thinking about this Galado wireless charging, very reasonable price, and good review (hopefully not self-reviewed)

if you want to utilise Power Delivery feature of USB-C, you need to have USB C because CC1 and CC2 connection is required. Using a converter is not possible simply because USB-A does not have the necessary pins connected to the lightning cable.

if you guys want to do some reading:

I beg to differ. Though the Iphone X's display is said to be best right now but I do not enable truetone being it makes the phone warmer depending on light conditions. Sometimes it gets too warm or too cool to my liking. Most of the time, the display feels too dim or too yellowish. Even after turning truetone off, the display still feels a bit warmer and not as "bright" and dazzling like the Iphone 7/ 7+. Doesnt good display panels displays amazing picture quality and vibrant colours to make displays come to life?
*
'good' display is very subjective actually.. iphone is able to display DCI-P3 (wide-gamut) colours when needed (app have to call the API), HDR when watching video (of course the video or app itself needs to be outputting that). The reason that it is not as 'vibrant' or 'come to life' is probably attributed to the sRGB profiles that all iphones to date have been using. probably they insisted with this colour profile is because of colour accuracy..

I went to resellers like Machines and MacCity and all their displays units had TrueTone turned off and brightness set to maximum. At first I thought my earlier uni from Sg was defective but when I tried those display units, all of them were the same. Sorry to say, but when I compare my X to my Note 8, the results were definately not in favour of the X even though many claim the OLED is the best display for smartphones in the world for now.
*
From a customer stand point, Samsung confirm the winner when it comes to display contrast (in technical terms, the colour profile they use). iPhone has always been very firm in their stance on this colour profile situation and once again, they focus on accurate colour reproduction, aka sRGB colorspace. In the end, it is subjective la..

Looking at all these comments, so many people want to get wireless charging base. Is it really something worth it? After all you still need to connect the base to a power socket lol.
*
getting wireless charging base because plugging cable will risk scratching the area around the port..

And I really love the Face ID more and more. Sorry....and bye bye Touch ID. I am not turning back.
*
haha.. it's typo la I think.. real duration is 48 hours. I go vacation come back, my iPad will not accept TouchID, need to key in code to unlock xD

Where can I find the read up about each sensor and it’s function i.e what does the ambient light sensor do? What does the front microphone do? Dot projector?
*
You can read this released paper by Apple:
FaceID Security Paper

My own words (explanation below may not cover everything):
Infrared Camera - Captures infrared wavelength spectrum (normal camera captures visible spectrum wavelength, eg. colours that you can see)

Flood Illuminator - Imagine pointing a flashlight to your face, but this is infrared version, this works together with other sensors to calculate the depth map of your face, also how FaceID is able to work in the dark.

Dot Projector - Projects infrared dots to your face that helps to determine detailed features of your face (moustache, scars, etc..).

Proximity Sensor - How close/far away are you from the phone. The information is used by other apps as well.
Ambient Light Sensor - What is the current brightness of the surrounding. The information is used for TrueTone Display as well as FaceID. Previously was only used for Auto Brightness.

Microphone/Speaker/Front Camera is pretty self explanatory yea =)

Thanks...weird tho there's a microphone sensor next to the speaker, why would they need to put a microphone sensor there ?  ohmy.gif
*
if I'm not mistaken, there's actually 4 microphones. 1 at front speaker, 1 at the back camera, and 2 at either side of the grille.. those works together for improved sound quality, noise cancellation (for phone calls)

bought nillkin wireless magic disk 4. when i use it with my iPhone X i felt both the wireless charger and iPhone X gets hot/warm in just few minutes. is it normal ? any other users comments pls ....
*
you're charging below 80% battery? should be normal to be hot, use your 5W charger (the one that comes with the iPhone) to charge and see, you'll notice the same heat...

since we are on the battery topic, something for you guys to read =)

How to Charge and When to Charge

From working experience:
- Primary killer of battery is heat.
- charge your battery whenever, lithium battery aren't like NiMH battery that has 'memory'.
- 20 - 80 percent battery is best for the battery (usually software already take this into account, what we see 0 - 100 on the screen is actually 20 - 80 on the actual battery capacity, but not every product is the same).
- Wired chargers (at least apple ones) will automatically stop charging once battery is fully charged, you won't feel any heat when your battery is fully charged. (the same cannot be said for wireless chargers, so please be careful)

I backed up Whatsapp on iCloud but after transferring everything, I wanted to restore the backup but when I checked in Whatsapp. There was no backup found. Aiyo  rclxub.gif

same thing happened to me. First time I backup using iCloud then on iPhone X cannot see any restore option for WhatsApp.

Then I go back to my previous phone, backup using WhatsApp menu (chat -> backup), then the restore option is available after I delete and install back the app again.

Thanks, good info smile.gif

So to keep the battery in good condition, avoid fast charger, and only charge to 80%? Damn when I wake up the next day it'll get to 70% and by afternoon might be flat already sweat.gif
*
don't have to avoid fast charger la, just do what the other bros did, put a fan to the phone =p like i said, heat is the main killer of battery. So as long as you keep your phone cool, fast charge is no problem =)

the 20-80% thing doesn't really apply to us, UNLESS, you rapidly charge and discharge often.. also 20-80 thing is for storage purpose (say you keep your phone for few months, best to keep the battery charge in that region..)

Need help. In control panel, I can’t seem to be able to call out the individual bar, eg torch light we could adjust the brightness by clicking the icon. I kept pressing it but to no avail.
*
can you 3D touch at other places aside from control centre?

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > 3D Touch, see if you turned this off maybe?

It’s on.

What do u mean 3D Touch at other place? Where else can we 3D Touch? I never understand  why we need this.
*
for example, on your lockscreen, you need to 3D touch to turn on the flash light and camera.. you can also 3D touch app icons on your home screen (some app will provide shortcut), or inside whatsapp, you can 3D touch the chat for a preview.. or Photos, you can 3D touch for preview..
