So you like Nikon or Canon
...do some home work and FOLLOW YOUR HEART what you want ( i mean brand, feature )...what we all discussED here is just AS A GUIDELINE for you...go WINDOWS SHOPPING is few shop (those recommended) and COMPARE THE PRICE yourself 
I can tell you each Nikon-ian and Canon-ian will say go for their brand/model that their are unit...don't forget we have Sony Alpha, Pentax K10D,K100D user also...many many more model
