If those are the real numbers, barcelona is as ghey as the fab 5 in gay town. Looking at the charts some of the Intel processors in the charts are actually Netburst. And in the ones where they take on the Core based Xeons, they're never 15 percent faster. Certainly short of the 40 peak promised. And not to mention, Penryn is around the corner with even more hard hitting action and it hasn't even been released.

Barcelona's 20% integer and 50% FP improvement (according to latest press releases) is only vs a Clovertown (not penryn based) running at the same clocks. The part in bold is extremely important, because it is expected that the quad core parts will only run up to around 2.5ghz initially. And these are peak figures. The general case will obviously be lower. Not looking very peachy for AMD right now, although in the server space HT3 will certainly help them smack intel for 4p and higher configs. But those aren't exactly volume sellers.

And the tgdaily link is just a rehash of what AMD said in their press release.

Barcelona is Opteron.
Why bother waiting a server class processor? Are you sure you're getting one?

Consumer should wait for Agena/Kuma instead doh.gif

xP = x numbers of processors (sockets) in a board.
i.e. 2P = 2 processor board

Sometimes 2P is refered to as DP (dual) while >= 4 is called MP (multi).
Single proc is UP (uni).
