Ha ha, it's OK. It's a backup phone that I paid less than RM700 for. My expectations are in check smile.gif

lol actually the back up phone just for voice call or sms only. Xiaomi Dual apps can have dual whatsapp, and others dual apps if you have multiple # smile.gif
*
Oh, coz my main phone is an iPhone, so there's a lot of limitations like no dual sim. Hence it gives me a good excuse to own a second phone, which is an Android so that I always have the best of both worlds. No need to argue which one better biggrin.gif

You did the right thing, bro. 😁👍🏻👍🏻

My friend who bought the Mi A1 right before the Redmi 5 Plus launched, totally regrets not waiting.

Main reason being the cheaper price of the Redmi 5 Plus, 6.0” 18:9 ratio display with rounded-off corners (the future of displays), plus the much bigger battery and better design. The 5.5” 16:9 display on the Mi A1 is obsolete already. Unibody or not, you can’t really feel the difference once you put it inside a proper case.

Of course, you lose the fast updates of Android One, but the Mi A1 is nowhere close to a Pixel 2 anyway. So you don’t lose much, and some may prefer the extra functionality of MIUI.

Now my friend plans to sell his Mi A1 and wait for the upcoming Redmi Note 5 Pro. The rumoured Mi A2 would be a good choice too as it should have an 18:9 display, but that would not be out for at least another few months more.
*
The Mi A1 was my first experience of pure vanilla Android, and while it was good value for money, I totally agree with you, the outdated design and screen grew tiresome really fast smile.gif The dual camera of the Mi A1 was also over-rated. My mum's iPhone 5S took better photos! That said, it was a nifty device, with 4GB RAM/64GB Storage and vanilla Android without the bloatware was a joy to use, albeit needing to download an app for almost every other feature biggrin.gif Standby battery drain was also very good in comparison with the likes of S8, S8+ and Note 8, which I've had the chance to experience as well. All in all, I would say the Mi A1 was good for what it does, but no more than that smile.gif

Just heard they will announce the 4GB/64GB Redmi 5 Plus this Friday, and I'm guessing it'll go for at least RM200 more than the current one, but I don't need that much RAM or storage for a backup phone so I'm happy with my purchase (actually I don't have a choice coz Lazada just shipped it so can't cancel, dammit!) biggrin.gif

The Redmi 5 Plus will also be my first experience with MIUI in years - the last I tried MIUI was Mi3, when we had to try and beat other scalpers in front of the PC during Mi's flash sale back then. Ahhh, those were the days laugh.gif

Redmi 5 Plus Official Malaysia set in 4GB/64GB version is out, priced at RM899.00, not too bad.  biggrin.gif
This afternoon I'm going to try my luck at their physical Mi Store in Penang to see they have ready stock for me to pay and grab on the spot.  smile.gif

That's just RM150 more for additional 1GB RAM and double the storage. Good deal! Sigh, should have waited a week, ha ha ha...

Where you bought?

Klang Parade, CKYStore

He’s my go-to guy for Xiaomi accessories. I prefer to buy from a physical store coz I’m hopeless in DIY application of screen protectors.

nova 2i punya top and bottom bezel oso thick apa.

i did consider this one before but eventually still preferred r5+ for the bigger battery

Same, chose the R5+ over the f5 and 2i just for the battery (and obviously the price biggrin.gif)

Guys, the stock browser is a little slow to load images. Is that normal? Or the 3GB one tak cukup RAM? For example the pics on lowyat.net website loads pretty slow, but if I try gsmarena.com, the pics load with no problems.

Wow phone rm625 for 3/32 hows it?
Ok to buy?
User review said global rom now.

If you could fork out a bit more, I would recommend the 4/64GB option instead. In my opinion there’s still a minor lag in the 3/32Gb version of the 5 Plus. I feel my 5 Plus is not as smooth as my Mi A1 previously.

The cheapest one I’ve seen for now for a MY set is at Qoo10 if you can download the coupon.
