has anyone tried flashing global rom on imported r5+?

Read on Lazada reviews that it is still unstable which I find weird because it is the same phone why would it be unstable

so it should be fine then

thinking of getting ap set since I probably will install custom rom later when they are more widely available so no need for warranty

If its the fake global rom then have to testpoint flash and wait 15 days before can flash recovery and install official rom

at least can save 150, and I would probably void warranty from mi malaysia anyways with custom rom

I prefer the blue one but couldn't find a good deal for 4gb ver

Got my rn5+ already today after 2 days of order. Gotta say that was way faster than I expected. Mine is global version with 2 pin plug and not the China 2 pin ver.

After using miu so far I'm in no rush to flash custom vanilla rom. But I'll still request for bootloader unlock since I want the Google camera app to work

Tried requesting for unlock with official global rom set and got error 86006.

Seems like test point flash and China rom are still needed.

Wonder why they are so strict now, I unlocked my mom's redmi note 4 with none of this bs.

Read on miui forum that a global developer rom flashable without unlocking bootloader may help with this issue so gonna have to resist the urges for now.

This was the case with the mi 6

Miui is livable for now, just want to install Google camera app to squeeze as much value as possible from the phone

If global version like mine pretty good value

No experience using mi max 2 but from my 4 days with the r5+ I can say that it's pretty good value for money.

Pros:
18x9 screen
Sturdy feel doesn't feel cheap
People who don't know anything about phone will think it costs way more
Huge screen on a small form
Camera is nice but not flagship rm4k nice
WiFi and cellular range are very good as well
Battery can easily last more than 1 day

Cons:
Phone is huge, the included plastic case helps
Miui may not be for everyone
The process to unlock its bootloader is fkin ridiculous

Kinda sucks to have to pry open a brand new phone. And I rather not risk being stuck with China rom forever since there have been reports of error 86006 even after testpoint flashing.

For now I'll wait patiently for the global developer rom.

From what I understand, there will be an executable programme (toolkit) in Windows provided by xiaomi where we can flash a developer rom without having to unlock the bootloader.

The phone will still be locked but with the newly flashed developer rom, it is supposedly easier to request for unlock.

The phone is pretty much still new to the global market so I'm unsure when or if xiaomi will ever release this particular toolkit
