Nah. If have unlocked a device before, you just skip the sms for unlock confirmation. You still need 360 hours to actually unlock with unlock tool.

The idea is xiaomi want to make sure the number is the legit owner for the device.

Only 2. China rom n global rom. If you chk the rom version code, the last 4th and 3rd character shows either "CN" or "MI" to indicate either china or global.



Both china or global stable rom works fine. Only that china rom you need to install Google playservice, and manually remove unwanted china app. As long it is official rom, no need to worry.

And if you unlock the bootloader, you can switch to any official or custom rom.

Custom rom. I am not a miui fan. But i like xiaomi good (and cheap) hardware.

Now using aex. Not bad for a custom rom.

This is the first gen. As i can remember, getting custom recovery is not straight fwd. The stock recovery come with system 1 and system 2 for whatever reason, you need to merge that. There is guide for that.

Fake is neither china nor global. From what i see, reseller modify china rom to become fake global rom. This happen before xiaomi launch rn5 & rn5pro in india. Meaning that before that time, no official global rom yet, but reseller take the 'initiative' to make their own 'global' rom to sell outside china.

I reckon that v 9.2.0.2 is the fake rom.

Since this already out of topic, i will answer for the last time. Mipad has wonderful hardware and should be good on any rom.


Yes. U can't perform ota update. It will bootloop at recovery. Google it.

Show off sikit. 1 day + battery. 10 hours SOT. And still running.

Mostly on wifi. Just browsing and youtube. Nonetheless good battery performance for a custom rom.

Not a fan of gesture. 3 nav buttons do the job well. Single tap vs fancy gesture. Straight forward action vs time wasting gesture. Why change?

Did u slide to allow modify system? Then, the only way is to clear data including internal storage (to clear the encrypt thing) and flash another rom immediately after that. External sd card or otg drive would be handy.

I dont think there is other way as far as i know.

As mention before.
0. Download rom + gapp n copy into ext sd card or otg drive. And backup your files too (e.g. pic, vid, etc).
1. Flash twrp, boot to twrp
2. Format everything including int storage to remove the encryption
3. Reboot to twrp, it should not ask for password anymore
4. Flash the intended rom from ext sd card or otg drive
5. Reboot to the new rom

Hope this helps. There is no recovery that can bypass the password as of my knowledge.

Can always use miui based rom like xiaomi.eu rom or mi-globe.
