I finally found this forum, was looking for it for a while, though it seems slightly inactive lately. Let's reboot it, because I need to ask a few questions. But first:

I've driven and taken good care of a 1995 W124 E280 for almost 4 years ( and counting) now. I'd say if you take care of the car well, which means oil change on time, never forget to change oil filter and use only fully synthetic, check water and other oils regularly and keep an eye on the temp, the car will run perfectly.

Although parts are abit pricey, I just got my front and back bushings along with front brake pads replaced for around 600 including workmanship, in the long run, I think it doesn't work out to be so much more than any japanese car like everyone else claims.

Refurbishing interior and cosmetic parts are very expensive, because people jack up the price, mercedes ma... but spare parts price can't run much la, some parts are even cheaper then japanese equivalents.

I'd suggest if you got the passion and a reasonable amount of money and patience, the 124 is a very good choice, i'd say the 280 is just nice in terms of balance between power and consumption, but if you don't need that much power, the 220 will be very good, try find a masterpiece if possible, but be careful of converted ones. Can't say much about the 201, but I heard reliability and parts are a problem, can't confirm this though.

Now to my question, I looking for a pair of shocks for my car, my hometown MB guru, Un. Yap from Seremban, said there are two types, heavy duty and normal ones, does anyone know more about this and the pricing? thanks! cheers!
