If you ask cashier whether support Samsung Pay, most will ask "Apa itu Samsung Pay", haha..

For those who want to use Samsung Pay, as long as the merchant support Pay Wave, then you can use Samsung Pay for the payment.
*
Are there exceptions? My 1st few transactions with Starbucks wasn't really straightforward when I said I want to use paywave. One time cashier set to Alipay so transaction was rejected (i heard the supervisor told the cashier why it failed). After that i just said samsung pay when going to Starbucks.

Hey thanks for the reply. May I know what apps you have on your phone? And your battery out of the box good already or like after a week or so? (Cause I read it takes some time to optimize..)
*
Just the usual apps. Facebook, ig, twitter, whatsapp, those Google apps, waze. I switch on traffic information notification to work from Google in the morning. I disabled the Microsoft apps and put most of the apps that I don't need notifications or running in the always sleep setting.

My battery has been like that out of the box. If there's improvement it's minor cause I don't notice it. I always have around 96% battery when I wake up. So far I only need to charge during the day on the 1st day cause I was setting it up and playing with it. Other days it can last well into night with average 5 hours sot. But it can get slightly less when I'm on data most of the days.

Did you install Samsung dex by accident? It uses quite a lot of battery. I don't have it preinstalled.

Edit : btw i don't use always on display. I use led indicator instead.

since no one share the clear steps for mst, below are my finding which i have no idea that is it the same at here

i watched a few youtube videos, and i assume that the steps for nfc and mst are different
for nfc, enter the amount, scan/tap and paid
for mst, scan, enter the amount and paid (which means that all the while, i was maybe tried with the wrong steps)

below videos are for mst, and i will try the below steps next time
*
If you're near samsung store, most of their stores got an area where they showcase spay with terminal and all. Maybe you can ask them how to use.
Btw I went to SES Pavilion just now and paid with spay. Their terminal was MST and the guy took my phone & tap it at the side where the card is supposed to be swiped. He put the amount 1st, then only he tapped my phone though.

Just to inform I've been to a few mynews that accepts spay without minimum amount. There are still some that don't accept which I just avoid.
Also Mr. Diy in aeon big wangsa maju accepts spay without minimum purchase.
All of those I asked to use paywave instead of spay.

Spay is Samsung name of their system to integrate paywave + mst + loyalty cards.

When it has a spay logo means Samsung verify it works 100%

Previously mynews accept but lately I heard alot failed mynews due to their system problem. I failed twice already.
*
Lol yea I know the difference / similarity of spay and paywave. Just that it's easier to say paywave. Some shops got accept samsung pay sign still blur2 when I say want to use spay.

QUOTE(kding2 @ Feb 5 2018, 12:09 PM)
How many of you guys are using Blue Filter mode?
*
I forgot this is note 8 thread. Always got confused with spay thread when there's lengthy discussion about it here.
I don't use the blue filter. Feels like it strains my eyes more in dark room. I just use normal mode with dimmest brightness.

After almost 2 weeks using, today's the 1st time I'm connecting my phone with gear s3 since morning too see how much difference it makes in battery life. Standby doesn't look too promising as of now. But then again my WhatsApp notification is quite busy this morning. Need to see few more days.

Is there much difference between Nougat and Oreo? My pass experiences after major updates usually battery was one of the affected areas and they usually weren't as good as the original version they came with. So I don't really mind having it a bit late if the upgrade is not that significant.

Maybe Samsung really working hard on Note 8 Oreo as my S6E has already received January security patch few days ago while this phone is still on December. Lol.

It's screen protector. According to the people in s8 thread, they said it's good stuff. Got some specialists waiting at there and they will apply the sp for you. You just need to walk in and show  them your Samsung phone.

I am surprise that no one mention this in note 8 thread. May be because everyone already applied sp so not bother with that offer?
*
Someone showed the link but not much discussion on the free SP. I went there to buy screen crack warranty but didn't ask them about it. Lol. I don't like SP and I thought it was the cheap one with rubbery feel.

i mean have you check the game launcher folder? my digi app auto moved into game launcher

try this: in game launcher menu, settings, turn off "hide games on Home and Apps"

it probably not because of game launcher problem, but no harm to try it
*
QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Feb 7 2018, 11:40 AM)
Yes it does have a tendency to do that occasionally. No biggie, really. Just check and move it out from the folder and it's done.
*
Why mydigi auto detect as games? It's been like that since games launcher was available? No matter how many times I moved it or classified it as a non-games app, it still goes back there.

Bixby feed also got this issue where it asked me to authorise Facebook to appear in the feed. I've chose option don't show anymore, and it still appears next time I access the feed.

can you just disable game launcher?

luckily i'm not sign in the game launcher so i'm not facing this issue
*
Can. Just that sometimes I like to have it. This phone I've disabled it but the mydigi thing is already like that since my s6. Lol.

QUOTE(tshin810 @ Feb 7 2018, 03:51 PM)
my guess is android let company choose a category by writing code in the app and those apps choose game category as one of their app category. It is just my wild guess.
*
Digi developer don't know which category to put in then if like that. Haha.

So i'm planning to get Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. Anyone can share:

- s3 battery life
- notification efficiency
- battery life consumption for note 8 drain drastic or not?
- recommended shop to buy SG s3 frontier
- any other tips that i supposed to know before buying?
*
Different users usage and result might vary but here's mine :-
- s3 battery life if connected to phone through Bluetooth during working hours can get 2 full days and then some. But I always charge after 2 days cause the 3rd day it will die halfway. Probably can get a bit more if heart rate monitor is set at interval instead of continuous but from my usage, either way I won't get full 3rd day. Unless you don't connect to phone then can get 3 days. I only connect using Bluetooth. Wi-fi connect off. But battery since the latest Tizen 3.0 is a bit unpredictable.
- notifications almost immediately but keep in mind for WhatsApp you can only read the last message of a chat. Lol. If someone sends you a string of chat and ended it with 'haha' then you can only see 'haha'.
- battery consumption for note 8 so far is ok. Standby drains just a bit more compared to when it's not connected but I still can get through the day without problem.
- samsung store for peace of mind. Online might get cheaper.
- not really tip but voice command / recognition of Tizen can be frustrating at times. No way near as good as Google so asking it to call someone with local sounding name can be annoying.
Too long already. Lol.

You guys use immersive mode / full screen mode where the navigation bar at the bottom auto hide? I love how it looks as it maximises the whole screen and the bezels appear even slimmer. But the downside is that swiping up to bring up the navigation bar gets tiresome after a while. I try to go straight to home screen with pressure sensitive in the middle at the bottom but most apps use that area to launch new command or post new things. Lol. Also when I'm browsing using s pen, it won't be hard enough to trigger the pressure sensitive thing.

I tried that, but as you said after for while get tiresome, quite troublesome when i need the back tab i need to swipe the navigation bar
*
QUOTE(Max2006 @ Feb 8 2018, 07:22 PM)
Haha. What to do? That's the major disadvantage of on-screen navigation bar.

As for the pressure sensitive middle bottom point, can go to the setting and adjust the sensitivity pressure level according to your own prefference..
*
Lol yea. Still want to give it a try though so whatever apps that I feel like I need to use back button regularly, I switched off the full screen option.
Pressure sensitive even after I've set to the lightest, s pen still not enough to activate it. Haha.

That's samsung Winter Olympic theme. It's a nice theme. I'm using it for few days already.

Eh but I don't know why his background is black. Mine is dark grey. Haha.

Finally!! Lol. I can't stand most of samsung emojis. Their rolling eyes is the worst. Also the one where ghost comes out from mouth. But that one looks like still remains. Haha.

Btw I like edge lighting but it requires whatsapp notifications to be set to 'pop up' for it to work. I don't use that feature.

i compared the eye rolling emoji with the funny one that shared in earlier post, it look different from the samsung emoji

I'm using SwiftKey on all my phones. They always use system emoji. That's why I can't wait for the new ones. Lol. How do you get your SwiftKey to use different emoji?

Just want to tell you guys that S8 already received their Oreo last night, in Malaysia. Envy right? But no need to be jealous. Apparently this Oreo update got bugs, causing some users facing bootloop problem after update. And today Samsung already pulled off the OTA update. I guess they were too rush on this. Thinking from a brighter side, it's good to let them iron it out by testing it on S8 first. We certainly don't want the same thing happen to our Note 8. icon_idea.gif
*
But I thought S8 Oreo was in beta for quite some time before they release globally?
Actually I'm pretty happy with this phone as it is now. Coming from S3, nexus 5 & S6E, it's been years since I don't have to worry about battery before going home. Lol. Now I can leave office with about 50% battery. Don't even have to have extra charger in the office. Just hoping new updates don't affect the awesome battery life.

Any of you guys play Gear VR with this phone? How's the performance? Does it get overheated after a while and required to stop to cool it down? I feel like I want to try because of the 4k screen.
My S6E if I don't play in front of a fan it'll get overheat easily. Lol. Play in air-conditioned room also got overheated but not too easily.
