Toyota Malaysia problem is with no new models and those model launch in Malaysia are slow and low spec compare to those in other country. How to compete with their competitors.
Besides they are also the largest in malaysia compare to their competitors, they have more service center, more sales showroom, and their monthly expenses is also way higher, so the bigger they are the harder they fall |

QUOTE(0300078 @ Oct 29 2017, 08:11 AM) Toyota Malaysia problem is with no new models and those model launch in Malaysia are slow and low spec compare to those in other country. How to compete with their competitors. https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...ota-car-output/Besides they are also the largest in malaysia compare to their competitors, they have more service center, more sales showroom, and their monthly expenses is also way higher, so the bigger they are the harder they fall In May they have reported that they will ramp up production with NEW PLANT but need to wait until 2019 QUOTE UMW to ramp up Toyota car output with new plant AUTO Friday, 26 May 2017 by toh kar inn SHAH ALAM: UMW Holdings Bhd will double the company’s manufacturing capacity for Toyota cars following the completion of the new Bukit Raja manufacturing plant in 2019. The new plant will start off with a production capacity of 50,000 cars per year, and will churn up to 100,000 cars at maximum capacity. This will be on top of the company’s existing 49-year-old plant, which has a capacity of 75,000 cars a year. Speaking after UMW’s AGM yesterday, president and group chief executive officer Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim said the new plant would enable the company to manufacture more Toyota varieties of passenger cars. The company has a sales target of 70,000 units of Toyota cars and 202,000 units of Perodua cars this year. UMW expects the automotive industry to recover this year, although it will continue to be a challenging one. Meanwhile, UMW will see the production of its first fan case for Rolls Royce aircraft engines by the end of the year. The company has a 30-year contract to produce fan casing for Rolls Royce engines, namely for the Trent 1000 engine in B-787 Dreamliner passenger aircraft as well as the Trent 7000 engine for the Airbus A30 Neo. “We have completed pre-production works at the manufacturing facility in Serendah, within a record 16 months period. “Revenue contribution from this contract will not be significant this year as the plant will only be fully operational beginning October. “We expect to breakeven or make a small profit by 2019 and full production will be achieved by 2021,” said Badrul, adding that the total production capacity of fan cases per year at the plant was a triple-digit figure. On another matter, UMW will look to exit UMW Oil & Gas Corp Bhd (UMW-OG), in which it holds a 55.73% stake, in late July. The exit will be through UMW giving out the shares it holds in UMW-OG through a dividend-in-specie to shareholders of UMW. This will allow the company to pare down its gearing ratio to 0.54 times from the current 0.92 times. ....Going forward, the company will be on the lookout for new businesses or investment opportunities within its three core business – automotive, manufacturing and engineering, as well as equipment segments. Toyota Expands Topmark Pre-Owned Dealer Network – 10 Locations In Total AUTO NEWS ARVIND | DECEMBER 19, 2017 07:11 PM Toyota is expanding its TopMark dealer network to offer the latest Toyota & Toyota Hybrid Certified Pre-Owned Cars to customers in four new locations in Malaysia. Through a collaboration with four authorised Toyota dealers of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the four new locations are: UMW Toyotsu Motors Sdn Bhd (Shah Alam and Rawang, Selangor) Panglima City Motor Sdn Bhd (Klang, Selangor) ES Yang Motor Sdn Bhd (Muar, Johor) Telagamas Motors Sdn Bhd (Kulim, Kedah) These five new dealerships will begin operations from January 2018. As authorised Toyota TopMark dealerships, the dealers can now accept vehicles of any make on a trade-in basis for the purchase of a new Toyota vehicle. This means that the customer can have a hassle-free exchange to ownership of a new Toyota model. The new dealerships will also offer certified pre-owned Toyota and Toyota Hybrid models. The quality and reliability of vehicles offered are assured as they undergo a stringent and comprehensive 201-point inspection. These include safety checks to ensure that all safety systems are in proper working order, including if tyres have sufficient thread if not, they will be replaced. The standard battery is also replaced with a new unit and only genuine parts are used if replacements are needed. All the work is done at an authorised Toyota service centre. For added peace of mind to the new owner, each vehicle comes with a 2-year/ 40,000 km warranty on the engine and transmission, whichever comes first. The five new locations join Toyota TopMark’s five existing outlets located in Petaling Jaya, Butterworth Johor Bahru and Kuantan. Lexus Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are also available at selected locations. Toyota Topmark is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMWT and has a reliable track record spanning 17 years. |

QUOTE KPMG: Retailers must become service and used car hubs, execs say By Lorenzo Migliorato January 8, 2018 Most executives in the global auto industry believe that retail car outlets can only survive if they transform into “service factories” or used car hubs, according to a KPMG survey. 80% of the executives surveyed thought that the growth of digital channel sales, centralised data processing for connected cars, and a mismatch between distribution costs and retail sales will make brick-and-mortar networks increasingly redundant. The only way for dealerships to retain efficiency in the future, executives concluded, was to expand their aftermarket role by becoming “universal service factories”. Alternatively, they could become used car hubs, though this would require OEMs’ to step up their physical outlet position if they want to grab a share of the margins.... So if that is the sentiments, Toyota hence divesting? This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Jan 13 2018, 08:25 AM |
