Hi

I have been playing for about 3 years and im wanting to upgrade my guitar (im still not very seasoned player yet) .

At first i was thinking about buying an acoustic with a plugin but now i am looking at a electric guitar.

Fender Squire Stratocaster. - RM550

Roland Micro cube.- RM400

so for about RM950 do you think i should buy it?

Also does anyone know where to buy a good and cheap hardcase bag for electric?

and does anyone have the phone number of Yamaha in IOI mall?

Thx alot guys!

Sound like a good deal.......
Or, if you want, you can instead get a SX strat and then use the remaining cash for a Wah pedal.....
But that's just me.
A Strat and Micro Cube is a good setup too.

Squier is under Fender. They are licensed to create guitars for fender but under their name.

Quote from wikipedia

Squier is a second-line brand of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. It produces models mostly derived from the Fender line of products but at lower cost, and are marketed similarly in providing high quality instruments at affordable prices for novice players. Squier guitars are now also sold in stores that do not specialise in musical instruments.

Being under Fender doesn't mean that you can call it Fender Squier laugh.gif

or else people would call Jackson as Fender Jackson laugh.gif

quoted for truth. at least ibanez is still ibanez(even gio). unlike epiphone and squire. laugh.gif

ibanez all the way, even though i'm no longer an ibanez guitar user(still use the amp though).

For the price you pay for a Squire, I'd go for SX instead.....
SX is a brand BTW.

Check the other threads like Cheap Guitars....... alot of info about SX there.

either that or oyu can just get the GAX Ibanez guitars. . . the guitars are around that price. . .

what guitar are you currently using? cause if its around the same region as the one you plan to buy then no point getting ther squier or ibz

well , you're asking for opinions right..
my opinion is no no for squiers ..

anyway..
RM1000 can get you an Ibanez and Microcube

or a Yamaha Pacifica(please choose yamaha over squier) and a Microcube

but ..if i had RM1000 lol...

i would buy an ibanez SA ..made in indonesia , or korea if you can find any ..and buy a Behringer GD 121..and use hi fi speakers smile.gif

btw..Behringer GD 121 is a really fvckin awesome pedal/pre amp/di box for RM160..

Unless you can get 2nd hand MIJ squires. Craftmanship leaves nothing much to complain about. Although I have seen some good MIC ones. But those are 1 in a million. But who knows, maybe you'll get lucky. The only way is to test it out and compare guitars individually. Comparing generally between brands doesn't really help much. A lousy squire and a good squire are still both squires tongue.gif

limjix,

maybe i misread and didn't see it in the previous posts, but here comes a few good advices (obviously, because they're mine tongue.gif) (no actually, i'm just copy and pasting past advices in older threads...) :

an electric guitar might not be the electric guitar you want !!

what i'm saying is that 2 different electric guitars will have 2 very different sounds, and it's not even link to the build quality or the wood quality. It's mainly linked to which pickups it's using (very simplistic ? but very true...)

So first things first : if you intend to play clean sounds, in a pop/folk/blues style, you should aim at single coil pick-ups.

Then, go to Bentley, Yamaha, SX (?) etc... and try few single-coils guitars. You should quickly know which guitar you prefer the most. It can be the look, the feel, the sound... it doesn't matter what is the little thing that will give a certain guitar an advantage to your eyes.. Getting a guitar you "love" is the best way to become a good (or at least better) guitarist wink.gif
