lokgotz, if i were you, this is what i will do:
1) log-in to the modem setup page, do a backup of current setting.
1b) since you said your mac cannot detect the connection, it's best you try with another machine or reset it directly with the reset button. In any cases, you should be able to log-in directly to the setup page (in safari, put 192.168.1.1), no matter you connect to internet or not.

2) reset the modem to default.
3) setup the streamyx dial-up details.
4) enable DHCP server.
5) in your mac, go into the System Preferences > Network
makesure it's set to DHCP, PPPoE is unheck (off), no Proxies, Ethernet ID is automatic. Then click apply.
6) Restart your modem to see if the connection turn to orange. It should at lease tell you the network cable is connected and but it's not online.

hope this help, also do check if the cable needed to connect to WAN/LAN port when setting up the modem.

If you were to connect directly, why you need the bridge mode?

Didn't you mentioned earlier that your router is not working?

Well, in all condition, my modem in DHCP mode with auto-dialing works fine. Here's my setup:

Modem (DHCP server + Streamyx connected) ---> 8 ports hub ----> Macs & Wifi Router ----> Portable Macs
