Opening this thread to discuss legal ways to watch anime. Let me know if rules violated.

In Malaysia, there are very limited choices for us Malaysian to watch anime online (legal methods). Hence, VPN or browser plugin needed.

Personally I will go these websites to watch anime. (all legal btw)
US site
http://www.crunchyroll.com/ (huge library with English sub and sometimes dub as well)

China site
https://www.bilibili.com/ (Chinese sub, Bilibili has a mixture of legal and user uploaded content, their legal content is crowd funded in form of fans sponsors)

Taiwan site
https://ani.gamer.com.tw/ (Chinese sub, free user with ads)

Mind sharing how you guys watch anime? tongue.gif

Crunchyroll, Netflix, Funimation are what I can think off the top of my head, although those need vpn probably. Not sure local Netflix has as much anime in their library compare to their US counterpart.

And crunchyroll is kind of a scumbag from what I've read.

Steam also have some anime, but not for Malaysia.

Hopefully there will be a company that could make a steam-like service where instead of streaming and renting, you'd have an option to download real quality and buy those permanently. Also user uploaded subs

Local Netflix library is limited for sure, but if it's Netflix Original Content I'm sure it will available worldwide.

I didn't know anime is on Steam as well, lol blink.gif

If there is such service, it probably be region lock as well lol.

Let's hope there are local distributors bringing in anime to Malaysia/Sea. Iflix has some anime although extremely limited and outdated.

You can search for it on your browser if you don't log into your steam account there. Searching through Google helps.

Region locked by Japanese companies of course. But hey, if they have their brains in the right place, it's only logical to not lock it as it will bring in A LOT of money from the international community.

Just note that bypassing region restrictions is not legal either, especially when it involves copyrighted media. They have a right to terminate your account even if you pay for their subscription.

As for Steam, there is actually a limited amount of anime available for us to purchase, as in not region locked. You can just open Videos>Anime in your Steam client Store and see a few (last I checked there were 4 sadly). Hopefully more are coming our way.

That would be Anime Strike. Not Crunchyroll.
AS has double paywall and it is expensive for annual fee.
Just see how much complaints in ANN, MAL users torwards Anime Strike service.

-----------------

In related news, Daisuki.net ending their services end of this month.
http://www.daisuki.net/us/en/contents/information.html

There are very few anime company stream their anime on Youtube. Sunrise-Bandai's Gundaminfo stream most Gundam anime on their channel for free.

No I am not wrong about what I said. Crunchyroll has their fair share of issues. I don't know everything but mostly about their quality. Latest issue I can think of is when they lowered their streaming quality and issued that they were changing something in their system as an excuse

And that reason isnt worth to call them as scumbag. Especially if they are offering service for free users too.
Crunchyroll sub is that not bad than other. What quality issue you are even talking about?

Other site are hard to watch with their interface. Daisuki android app is shit. The PC ver site is hard to watch too.
Netflix licensed Fate/Apocypha but it wont get simulcast.

Read this:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurenorsini/2...h-anime-strike/

Pay 160 buck a year to watch less than 20 anime on Anime Strike versus you cant stream in higher quality but you pay only 60 buck and option for free watch with ads on Crunchyroll. The former is worse especially the way the company act towards anime fans unlike Funimation + Crunchyroll.

> not worth calling them scumbags
Well good for you then for not giving a care that they dropped their service quality. Other people don't like that, especially if they have paid for the service. And just because they have a free option doesn't mean you should give them a pass for their problems

And really not sure why you are bringing something that's out of topic from what I was talking about. I'm not defending anime strike because the link you shared showed that they are really bad. But still, doesn't relate to crunchyroll.

So in what way you said they were scum? Other than dont give HQ video streaming?
I not backing Crunchyroll because they dont do service for Asia especially SEA region. At least I gave a proof for other.

If they do dropping service then everyone should make fuss about it. Then they will give quick response like they did before. Also CR and Funimation merge as one company is one of their iniative to give best service to anime fans. If they suddenly dont do HQ steam could be something to do with server. But people give quick judgement that change something = bad. If hotel or hospital got some unavoidable incident people do still give bad impression regardless its their own fault or not. Customers are hard to please.

At least CR its not like Netflix and Amazon Prime's Anime Strike. They both dont give shit about majority complains.
Netflix dont do simulcast is a mistake. AS double paywall is ridiculous.

Anime legal way to watch in Malaysia. How much fans in Malaysia? Do they have big capital money to waste just for cartoon/anime?

Will never happen in Malaysia to watch legally & most hope(fanservice/uncensored). There is some ways of legal to watch anime in Malaysia like iflix & Netflix.

Also anime channel in Malaysia like Animax Asia & Aniplus Asia. But, me easy to get boring bcz too many repeat. I already see some UQ Holder anime & it have some hentai scene & got cut in Animax channel.

For long terms, i think people just related anime with console game like Naruto, One Piece, etc.

Anyway, just enjoy illegal website. When they still alive. I believe this kind of website will get ban soon. I just hope there is one company will work together. But, we are in real world. Who want to collaborate with rival?

Also, me think all people in Malaysia just watch through illegal streaming bcz it easy & fast. Most important is it After Japan Broadcast & in HD. Very hard if some of popular website will be taken down.

There is some illegal website offer paid service & Fast Track after Japan premiere. Just search through Google. rclxm9.gif

You can use Anilinkz for watch Anime, BUT If you do not want to have problems with the law, be sure to buy a paid VPN, which will protect your computer from hacking and hide your presence.
