QUOTE(6UE5T @ Dec 6 2021, 06:25 PM) Based on the sector timings in Jeddah, MV was actually fast in the mid sector with lots of fast corners then only got caught up in the last and first sector with more straights. But yeah this last race looks like 50/50. Based on how the last few races though, it'll be tough to beat LH cuz he has upped his game like he used to on the last 1/3rd of the season. For MV, I feel he is nervous now cuz it's his first time facing title battke, reflected in his desparate moves. Just watched race highlight, wow so spicy race, I kudos MV for bringing A-game and maniac behavior to the race track. After Vettel's deliberately steer to Hamilton in Baku GP and swapping No. 1 sign in Canadian GP, I think this is the most dramatic one. |

QUOTE(sp6068 @ Dec 6 2021, 06:28 PM) The polesitter is important here. As we know from the prev races this track is very difficult for overtaking. In 2020 MV dominated the race from start to finish. MV can get No.1 easily with starting from 3rd or 4th position, just pointing the car straight straight and his opponents would be swept to outside.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(4WD_er @ Dec 7 2021, 09:33 AM) His opponents other than the Mercedes are likely to give ways anyway. There are 3 other Honda cars that will pull off-track to give him the racing line. Ferrari and McLaren will be busy with their own fight, so they won't impede MV. Alonso still hates LH, so he will help MV. Ocon and other teams probably not so relevant also. Bottas most probably will be giving way as if he's on GP2 engine mode as well.Effectively only 1 man can fight and stop MV, that is LH. |

It's final race for 2021 season, so which car is the best car?
Red Bull: MV 1-2 1-2, superb reliable and durable Honda engine, fast on corners only a few km/h behind the spicy Mercedes car. Mercedes: Trailing the best Red Bull during 1st half of the season, slow on 1 or 2 races such as Monaco and Baku (yes without MV's tyre failure I think LH best is 3rd position), team's brave effort by switching to Spicy engine strategy on latter races to take the fight to Red Bull, Bottas suffered more engine changes due to unknown strategical reason or reliability problem, controversial rear wing. QUOTE(6UE5T @ Dec 10 2021, 03:30 PM) Tough to say. This is similar to Senna in the Mclaren vs Prost in Ferrari in 1990. Based on the driving talent, many actually said the Ferrari was slightly quicker ovetall and that's why Prost could stsy close in the fight and Mansell can win a few races. Yeah this year really tight, even in year 2018 in my opinion I would say Ferrari the best car (bar a few races from Singapore and Japan where their upgrade proves going backward), while Mercedes best teamwork and the wingman, lol. |

Huhuhu, it's repeat of Abu Dhabi 2020? MV to lead over 15 sec in the race? Lol so much for the Mercedes "pancut awal" until Red Bull showing the Joker card starting Q2, no the tow effect only gives 0.08sec advantage the commentator said.

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Dec 12 2021, 01:00 AM) Good strategy and great lap by RB and MV but starting tires might not be ideal unless RB knows something that others don't. Strange though that both SP and VB are so far behind their team mates especially VB who were not sacrificed like SP. Great effort by Lando too, would he be the party spoiler for LH? RB planned and well prepared to run on softs, they did long runs on Friday with good consistently good pace. Should be a great race tomorrow cuz LH and Mercs always fight hard on race day. To be honest when RB decided trim down the rear wing, I think it's game over for Hamilton, this season I can't remember there are 2-3 races when RB trimmed down the rear wing, during race Hamilton can't keep up even with DRS enabled on the straights, he can only stay closing but can't overtake. |

Oh Bottas reverted to older engine with lesser power due to reliability concern, what explains why his qualifying pace so slow, wow!
Imagine the engine development freeze and Mercedes stuck with reliability woes while now the Honda engine is matured, bulletproof, how the fortune swapped, lol. |

QUOTE(4WD_er @ Dec 12 2021, 01:09 PM) You are living in your own comfort zone. Did you ever watch Q2 ? No need to argue, it was Bottas whom said that.VB was only slightly slower than LH on med. And tiny bit slower than those on soft. SP was much much slower on med. If VB can overtake tonight, which is highly likely due to the improved layout, he can be P3 at the end. https://www.racefans.net/2021/12/11/switch-...-in-qualifying/ And the speed trap, just less than 6 kph difference among teams, Mercedes at the lower bottom, due to higher drag from bigger rear wing? https://www.racefans.net/2021/12/11/jeddah-...-title-decider/ Well as seen many times this season, Hamilton can't make overtake attempt during times Red Bull running smaller rear wings, see Hamilton stuck behind Perez 70% of time in Baku, the supposed Mercedes domination track. You will be optimistic to have Mercedes on highest of podium + Bottas at 3rd, lol This post has been edited by voscar: Dec 12 2021, 01:23 PM |
