So we are coming to the new Ferrari Powerful Engine era? Haha.
You see when last Melbourne qualifying even though Hamilton tapao them by big margin and Ricciardo crying party mode, Vettel with different opinion stating it's not Mercedes PU helped Hamilton. I think Ferrari side confidence their engine are up-to Mercedes level if not more powerful.
*
I think ferrari don't expect Mercedes to go that fast and probably didn't use their full power to save engine. Vettel also said gps shown Lewis is fastest at corners. Because of the engine limit per season, team will try to do 'just enough' rather than all out at every race. So they need to anticipate what/how much others have... Just like poker.

I'd loved to see alonso reaction. Seems like Honda engine is quite powerful. Might be the 3rd most powerful.

Its quite interesting that Ferrari can nurse its tyres to that extent in a hot condition. Other teams might need to think twice when playing strategies with tyres

This year's Ferrari is unbeatable! Strategy, Tyre-friendly, powerful Party Mode engine.

Gone are the days of Ferrari's stupid strategy, bursting tyre on final moment due to over-usage, lost to Mercedes in Qualifying. They have everything to win the championship this year.
*
I like how ferrari taking risk unlike last year.

Mercedes in the other hand seems to rely too much on data/statistics... Not guts. They could easily won if bottas just gone quicker earlier but they choose not to as they confident vettel would pit again.

I think regardless Bottas drove quicker in more laps, outcome still the same. He has to overtake the almighty Ferrari-Vettel, it's a hard task. Mercedes are not good in tailgating behind as the turbulence causing their downforce not working well...
*
I beg to differ... If bottas attacking earlier, vettel tyres will be gone earlier because he need to defend. Vettel himself said there's nothing left in the tyres on the last lap. However bottas only start closing down on vettel after its clear that vettel not pitting again.

Btw, Mercedes might be fooled by vettel radio message saying 'he got everything under control'... Haha

I agree, I think if Bottas pushed harder earlier then he might have a chance to win it. Problem is, in this age of F1, the drivers are very reliant on the team to set the target time for them based on computer simulation which sometimes might not be correct.
*
QUOTE(dman @ Apr 10 2018, 05:33 PM)
Nowadays all racing times, strategy, pit call all based on computer calculation and algorithm to determine the possible outcome.

Gone were the days where all those quick thinking, outsmarting rivals with tactics and pure guts.

Drivers now are just puppets. Majority decision are made from the pit wall. It isn't bad, just not pure as the old times.
*
Agreed. Racing nowadays is doing just enough instead of go all out. All because of stupid rules/penalties.

I noticed that Mercedes is highly reliant on pit wall for every call. That's why LH seems lost when no radio contact. Even in Australia, he kept asking whether to attack Vettel or not and didn't get an answer... Seems like the pit wall cannot make decisions..

I think the problem with mclaren honda last few years is that mclaren didn't want to compromise on their 'best chassis' to accommodate honda design... Unlike TR

Wow, if Vettel gonna win tomorrow, the championship pretty much belongs to Vettel. Mercedes, try again next year if tmr you lose the game, haha.

Nowadays... With limit in engine components, it hard to predict.

Even if Seb does win tomorrow, there’s no way one should count Mercedes out this early. If they are still not back to where they are when they are back on the Euro circuits, only then there’s a big problem
*
Also, Ferrari in season development not so good last few years and even RB can challenge them by end of the season.

Seems like Mercedes went for setup for Med and throw the soft for qualifying.

RB just throw the dice and bet on it

The problem with max is that he never admitted his faults... Maybe after a while RB will get fed up with him.

Better race this time thanks to the Torro Rosso incident. Ferrari bad luck shifted to vettel this time. Verstappen still haven't learned to calm down enough. When hamilton is not into it,he really is not into it. Good drive for the top 3. Alonso must be happy to overtake the red car on track for a very long time.
*
Yeah. Alonso must have. Haha

I think vettel kinda just nursing the car because hd didn't know the extent of the damage... And also his tyres are pretty much gone.

This year's Mercedes poor form resemblance Ferrari's year 2005, dominating from 2000 and ending 2004 with high then on 2005 suddenly dropped to 3rd team.
*
If this continue, Mercedes might quit F1.

Btw, vettel seems struggling a lot. Trying out new setup perhaps

you could said the same 2 the red bulls ma when they lost in 2014 but they still continue ma laugh.gif rclxms.gif

doubt mercedes will chicken out soon unless ferrari decide 2 pull the plug and compete in breakaway championship laugh.gif rclxms.gif

ferrari is F1 flesh and blood...without ferrari there is no F1...the end hahahaha doh.gif doh.gif

RB got big sponsor and not winning will damaged Renault brand more than them imo.

Ferrari kept continuing F1 even when not winning unlike other manufacturers...
