They want degrading tires to spice up races and drivers would drive like a turtle to baby the soft. Then they designed these circuits... I think this circuit is crap... blind corners, tight... I expect it to be more boring than Singapore.
The track seems amazing for touge/fast driving as all drivers say so but probably not racing battles, we'll just have to wait and see.
Well2, just finished watching the recording, what a mess! Lol But in the end I feel the right man won cuz LH was just faster and MV was desparate in his moves. He was actually handed a big stroke of luck with the first restart but could not capitalize, then he made up for it with a great move on the 2nd restart but just cannot hold on despite making desparate moves again to protect his position.
In the end as F1 fans we got what we want, both equal on points going into the final race, bring it on!

What baffle me a bit are: 1. Why MV got 5 sec penalty despite him already letting LH pass? 2. How on earth MV got driver of the day with such desparate moves? Then to make it more puzzling, did he get boos during the interview? So how could the DoD got boos at the same time? Lol
Update: MV then got another 10sec penalty for the collision with LH, so the 5 sec penalty was again for which one?

KR is crazy imo... there's no room to overtake there. No way anyone in the right mind would move off racing line to allow a car space through there.
Looks like KR was on the outside, got crowded to the wall by SV then turn in on the last possible moment just to make the apex on the 2nd chicane yet SV ran him wide. At that point before the turning, both cars were still overlapping each other with KR front left wheel overlapped SV rear right. If KR slowed down more, SV rear might hump over KR front left. The only way to avoid was for KR to just go straight which obviously he wouldn't. SV was actually going slower with KR trying to overtake on the corner before, so it was SV still trying to defend by crowding KR to the wall then running him wide.
Low speed corner benefits RBR, high speed corner benefit Merc. The new layout looks like half-half. Gonna be exciting to watch.
ok found the local timing for us in Malaysia
Based on the sector timings in Jeddah, MV was actually fast in the mid sector with lots of fast corners then only got caught up in the last and first sector with more straights. But yeah this last race looks like 50/50. Based on how the last few races though, it'll be tough to beat LH cuz he has upped his game like he used to on the last 1/3rd of the season. For MV, I feel he is nervous now cuz it's his first time facing title battke, reflected in his desparate moves.
The polesitter is important here. As we know from the prev races this track is very difficult for overtaking. In 2020 MV dominated the race from start to finish.
This new layout seems to take away 1 overtaking spot in turn 9 cuz it makes it into a medium speed curve then try to add a spot in turn 5.
It's final race for 2021 season, so which car is the best car? Red Bull: MV 1-2 1-2, superb reliable and durable Honda engine, fast on corners only a few km/h behind the spicy Mercedes car.
Mercedes: Trailing the best Red Bull during 1st half of the season, slow on 1 or 2 races such as Monaco and Baku (yes without MV's tyre failure I think LH best is 3rd position), team's brave effort by switching to Spicy engine strategy on latter races to take the fight to Red Bull, Bottas suffered more engine changes due to unknown strategical reason or reliability problem, controversial rear wing.
Tough to say. This is similar to Senna in the Mclaren vs Prost in Ferrari in 1990. Based on the driving talent, many actually said the Ferrari was slightly quicker overall and that's why Prost could stay close in the fight and Mansell can win a few races.
This season is even more difficult to determine which car is better overall cuz looks more evenly matched. Plus MV is first timer in title fight vs LH who is an obviously a proven serial winner, unlike Senna vs Prost who were both already proven as title winners above the rest and has been matched as team mates before.

Yeah this year really tight, even in year 2018 in my opinion I would say Ferrari the best car (bar a few races from Singapore and Japan where their upgrade proves going backward), while Mercedes best teamwork and the wingman, lol.
Yup 2018 was also close which I felt Ferrari should have won it if it were led by Alonso instead of Seb. The thing about LH is that he somehow always steps up his game in the 2nd half hence tough to beat.
Good strategy and great lap by RB and MV but starting tires might not be ideal unless RB knows something that others don't. Strange though that both SP and VB are so far behind their team mates especially VB who were not sacrificed like SP. Great effort by Lando too, would he be the party spoiler for LH?
Should be a great race tomorrow cuz LH and Mercs always fight hard on race day.
