so the merc doing the ultimate sandbagging by creating the first PU (oil pressure) failure of the pre-season test, on Bottas' 1st outlap, without pushing or party mode. creating hype merc is now slow and not reliable? hmm that's interesting, haha.

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Mar 15 2019, 11:24 AM) Kinda weird to see Mercedes topped fp1. Usually they would sand bagging. Seems also like leclerc might be able to beat bottas, even rb with honda seems quite fast. If TR also can beat mclaren, its like a pie to the face for them. I guess Mercedes trying max party mode to see how fast was it, while Ferrari on usual Friday low power mode. Mercedes must be frustrated to see their party mode can't run away, with Bottas behind both Ferrari and one Verstappen. It was Hamilton's brilliant drive for the top spot. |

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Mar 15 2019, 02:31 PM) Leaders with confidence does always sandbagging during practices. Believe Vettel-Ferrari only able to compete with middle group less than 0.2s separated with Redbull, Alfa Romeo, Renault? Lol I bet Ferrari were toying others right now. |

I wouldn't worry much. Vettel has strong record and good luck on Melbourne track. Mercedes's party mode may not designed for Sunday race.

"What's the reason we stopped so early?" asked Hamilton on Lap 22. Five laps later, a worried Brit said: "I don't think I'm going to make it to the end of the race on this tyre."
Wingman role exchanged?! Hamilton to pit earlier to cover Vettel's threat it seems... This post has been edited by voscar: Mar 17 2019, 03:33 PM |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Mar 17 2019, 03:16 PM) Good that VB could win again and did so in such devastating manner. Good race also by MV to beat the reds. Hell no... The usual tradition when Mercedes doesn't won the season opening, that season they've got challenged from opponents. With VB whom never won a race last year won comfortably big margin, this season could be repeat of Mercedes 2016 internal affairs. Others can't cope with their performance. What a bad season...What a let down from Ferrari, not even a podium after all the hype during testing. Good that CL can match SV, he should have gotten 4th if not for the trip across the grass and team order. |

so got speculation Ferrari slow due to engine problem... engine design issue so they have to tuned down, uses aggressive ERS to compensate, which in turn depleted energy much earlier...

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Mar 23 2019, 06:23 PM) CL is impressive, but i think it is because he managing the tyres better, and also pit later. Mercedes also said vettel struggling because of the tyres degration kinda landslide after laps. Ya, Vettel is very defensive and supportive for his team. At least he does not yell GP2 engine last week when their ERS derated... Unlike alonso, vettel play the politics better. Always said the right stuff... Not berating anyone |

So it seems Ferrari has restored its monster horsepower and back to domination form as in pre-season. This season Ferrari will crush the field. Now it's Ferrari Vettel vs Leclere team competition. Lol.

Ferrari with Medium tyre overtook Hamilton with soft tyre easily. No joke this year is Ferrari domination year. Harder compound tyre has no effect to Ferrari speed. Look how Toto's face black like charcoal...

OK saw highlight, what an anti-climate for Ferrari. Hamilton is definitely on Vettel's head, Ferrari need a young, raw driver whom not fear of Hamilton and able to go head-to-head with Hamilton, to replace Mr. V. Perhaps Mick Schumacher? But not that soon lar. Current on the grid I think Verstappen. For Lecler, I hope that turbo failure just one-off reliability, not the previous PU fundamental problem which everyone discussed previously.

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Apr 1 2019, 05:03 PM) Bold prediction but if he continues at such high level then it's possible. I hope he will coz we need a new champ to stir up the competition, so we lost a great champ in Alonso but gain a new one just as good if not better. Preferred Alonso to replace Mr. V instead. Now this red Ferrari is competitive and Alonso could snatch another championship.Speaking of Alonso, if Gasly continues to underperform, maybe he should approach RB? 😀 It will be fireworks if we have Max vs Alonso! |

OK guys, Leclerc engine issue is actually a single injector fault, nothing else and the engine is safe for next races. It's not because of party mode or sorta, so it's OK to continue running in such high performance mode on future races. Good sign, expect the same Ferrari shine on straight-line speed in which opponents were jealous.
