Anyone know the price outside of Honda to replace engine cover + side cover at the bottom of car engine? Honda quote me around RM750 + RM250
*
The plastic top cover is just mainly for aesthetic use only (and serve a little bit towards reducing the engine noise); and bottom one mainly for aerodynamic purposes. You can live without it and the car would still work fine.

What happened that cause you the need to replace these 2 items? Even moderate crash also unlikely to damage these 2 parts.

QUOTE(mcchin @ Nov 21 2017, 11:36 AM)
What he is saying is that to use deduction method

1. Change of petrol brand/station.
----potential issue with that certain station. Example is when the refueler tank (big tanker) come refuel the station, the operator mixed up and refuel the petrol reservoir with some diesel. So changing petrol station can solve this kind of issue.

2. If the previous fails then go to Service center, since the issue is not with the petrol fuel
*

No worries, after I got a call from him, we were able to pin point some steps to cross check. It will take some time but It seems the issue is considerably small and he will be able to hopefully solve it in due time.
*
Here's the fact about misfueling diesel into your petrol driven car. Diesel is heavier than petrol, meaning petrol will be floating above it. So when the fuel pump picks up fuel from bottom, it will suck up the diesel first. You will pretty much face the after effect almost immediately after trying to restart the engine.

Vice versa, if misfueled petrol into diesel car, still got hope, as the petrol will float above the diesel. So the pump will still pick up diesel, just that need to keep the tank above half and constantly top up with diesel until the petrol fully evaporates. Or top up with certain fuel system cleaners which has additives to allow the diesel and petrol to dissolve into each other.

So, I sent my car in to the SC and as expected, the response was "it's normal". I don't think it is though. It's beginning to happen more often now especially when coming to a stop and I ease off the brakes, the car will jerk forward. The only way I can prevent this is to come to a full stop and continue to hold the pedal a bit.....and no...this isn't the vibrating jerk you feel when brakehold tries to engage. The SC advised to just continue using it until it happens every time, only then it'll be considered an issue.

*
Try another service centre.

Maybe...just maybe good for transmission fluid change....

Another wrong CVT fluid fiasco in the making confused.gif

Yea, alot of quality issue to be frank
Mine kena
1. leather seat (replaced)
2. paint not even (fixed)
3. rattling (fixed)

So when collect car, reject it if its not perfect
*
Once registered to your name, no way of rejecting unless very blatant fault (wrong colour/wrong trim line/rusting/obvious dents, etc)

Can only insist on rectification work.

The only time can outrightly reject is when the allotted car to you arrived at the SC and the sales adviser is kind enough to inform you to come for inspection before proceeding to registration at JPJ.

Can. They will rectify for u before they handover to u again, of course it will be the same car same chasis same registry. Just tat if u accept the car, the salesman will ask u to complain and repair at SC. Then u shall wait x 10000 and be patient for the waits.
If u dont accept the car at the 1st place, the salesman will die die repair it for u ao he can close ur account n not get his ass kicked by the sales manager.
*
What i want to emphasize is that, if the car is registered in JPJ, it is pretty much considered a done deal. The rectification works may not end up to your satisfaction, but it is already your car and you have to accept it.

The only recourse on your side is the loan, as the loaned amount will only be fully disbursed to the dealer after you sign receive. But still, you can't hold on to this leash for long.

Can only conclude that either honda is really screwing up the final quality touches and just sign off the cars out of the plant as long as can drive or that we as consumers are expecting much more than before.

Give it a month for the seals to fully settle in, usually won't recur after 2 months.

Only then bring it to SC. My new car also like that for the 1st month, it vanishes later on.

After check back let us know ya, we can learn more on this. Probably ask on the oil as well, really curious on this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, the engine oil for this civic also goes to the turbo, means whatever oil we decide to put in to protect (we assume) the engine also will affect the turbo as well?
*
To be exact, the turbocharger starts spinning the moment engine is started and exhaust starts producing. Just that the boost isn't much and not at the surgeline (the rated sweetspot for effective boost). What you see in the spec sheet is the peak torque produced at which rev range.

You sir, are correct. Unless we talk about sequential turbo a.k.a porshe where they would have variable boost, normally it would be as what you mentioned.
*
Some BMW engines also have sequential typre.....but now mostly go parallel twin turbo or just a good big twinscroll....

QUOTE(andyshim89 @ Jan 5 2018, 07:14 PM)
for me just stick what user manual said, if 0-20 cannot provide good protection, then pour in SAE 40 la, kompom protect...

nowdays engine oil not like old zaman, you see the amsoil, they making 1yr or 20,000miles engine oil...
*
If want ultimate protection, don't off engine, let the engine oil constantly be circulating under pressure, the parts won't come in contact.....

Amsoil signature synthetic series goes up to 25,000 miles....

Let me start this off:

Things Done:
1. Yi Cam (full routing into A-pillar cover)
2. Mi Motion Sensor Night Light for glovebox
3. Two seat hooks
4. Mi QC 3.0 car charger (ready for the expand ports)
Things to do:

1. Car Tint (3M? Huper? Vkool?)
2. Spoiler (Honda 4sho)
3. Clear plastic protection film (Xpel? others?)
4. Xiaomi Mi Clip-on Car Charger Expansion Device
5. Leather cover -center console (Fabric too itchy)
6. Leather cover -side arm rest
7. LED Bulb C6 (or just Osram NBU)
8. Osram NB  Unlimited (or just C6 LED)
9. Mud Guard (must buy, rainy season)
10. Antirust cover door lock (must buy, cause easy and cheap)
11. Steering CF cover (too shiny , fingerprint magnet)
12. Door Sill LED (hmmm, big risk, cos DIY)
13. door handle film (start to have small scratches)
14. Sun shade (maybe maybe not)
15. LCD screen protector (using the bubbly one it came with now)
16. trunk storage box (maybe use Lokam boxes)
16. interior lights led (white LED FTW)
*
If you're spending that much money on accessories, please at least consider these 2 for best bang for buck :
1) lighten aftermarket alloy rims : lighter means = lesser spinning mess = lesser fuel consumption on the road = slightly improved acceleration
Just don't go overboard by more than 1 inch increase width and diameter wise.

2) better tyres : gives you the added assurance for on road contact and an extra margin edge when emergency hard maneuvers are required. Even when the tyres loss grip, grip can be regained much earlier/faster. Yes, this car has stability control but it is limited by tyre performance. Shitty tyre with stability control kicking in still = skid

rim wise, never really thought about it

since this car is still a family carrier, lighter alloy is not there yet for my current needs

Whatever use for your car, a proper lightweight rim will see benefit, fuel consumption will definitely see a noticeable (i won't say significant) improvement.

regardless, enjoy your ride biggrin.gif

I used the Blue previously, 4.5 years. It's not even the 55B24LS, it's only the 42B24LS previously sold. But mine is a previous generation Civic. I have the old battery photos, I should dig it up.

Another car is my sist's City which use the NS40Z, it lasted 5 years.
*
4.5 - 5 years is a little nuts to us as most don't expect more than 2 years, and 3 years consider kind of rare. Wow....your beyond that is simply amazing.

Do you mind sharing your driving patterns and do you use a battery maintenance charger?

The thing is, you need to find the right tire size for an 18". Trying to stay with 215mm width is going to be a challenge as there are not a lot of choices in 215/45r18. Most end up going to 225/45r18 which will have a slightly bigger speed discrepancy with stock tire size compared to a 215/45r18.

If you can find Mazda 3 high spec owners getting rid of their new tires. You might be able to have it for quite cheap. I seen some on Mudah as cheap as RM350 per piece as they run 215/45r18 stock on their 18" rims.

Go survey before deciding.
*
The difference between 215/45/18 and 225/45/18 is not significant, just get 225/45/18 as this size has more choices.

215/45/18 is just for lancer and mazda3, quite odd size and more expensive.

Can't say there isn't much, it is a whole 2kmh faster on our expressway speed limits

Some might say a 225 might improve bearing life as it has 7 revolutions less of wheel rotation per kilometer and it might be more comfier compared to a 215 since it has more cushion on the sidewall
*
harrr....2km/h small fry lar.....myvi bombing down at 160km/h, 2km/h considered what?? tongue.gif

My personal opinion, not science or data based, just my hunch, road surface affect the bearing more than revolutions. I think large shocks can degrade the bearing harsher and faster.

Comfort wise, very little tangible difference actually...

Anyway, great choice for this car instead of the mazda, Happy driving biggrin.gif

Sometimes, 2kph is the difference between getting an AES summon depending on how much Honda askew the speedo reading.

Yeah, unfortunately with the forum name  sweat.gif . I was quite sure the Mazda 3 HB was it from the begining, but in the end my logical side got the better of me.
*
If scared AES, go middle lane, and just slow down to speed limit or lower. Although i once kena police warning (that time AES only beginning implementation). They say AES system give grace allowance up to 10km/h. That was few years back then, so whether this grace allowance still applicable, i'm not sure, but logically should still be there. If not, many kena saman extremely tak puas hati if go over by 2-3km/h. Mana tau some poor folk, pump air a little too much, tyre circumference increase just that tiny bit, but kena AES pulak...

On the car choice, most important is your own satisfaction, not forumers. At the end of the day, you're driving it, you're maintaining it, you're paying the loan smile.gif

But quite curious to know, from your perspective, how was the brake pedal feel compared to the mazda?
