Hi guys,

I planning to install amp, component speakers and woofer on my car.
I spoke to installer, he told me after installing amp, for sure FM signal will be affected. Like when passing through signalling tower or high rise building. FM audio will become blur or sudden drop out.
He says that's because the amp is converting from DC to AC and it is affected by engine interference also. He says no matter what brand of HU or what brand of amp, it will also the same, even top of the range also.

Btw, I am from JB and no digital radio for me. In KL you have digital FM so it will not affected. It will only cause problem to analogue FM signal.

He also says manufacturer nowadays don't focus on improving fm signal hence this issue will not be resolved unless we have digital radio signal.

This is the first time I heard of such thing, I just want to know is it true?

He says even ground properly it is still the same as in certain channel with weak signal will get affected.

I prefer the old style just turn on radio of HU and drive. For me I can still use phone app to listen to radio but for my mum it is a complicated task. So I prefer to use HU.

Probably this thing will boost noise together with signal as well.

I tot newer HU should have newer technology to receive signal clearer.

For the mean time I am not planning to change HU, but stock HU don't hv pre-out so will need to use hi-low converter. Not sure this will gv any problem. Or maybe need to change new set of antenna.

Probably, but I heard some owners with aftermarket pre-out HU also facing the same issue. I wonder is this a common issue for those who modified their audio system.

True indeed, but personally I never had issue with aftermarket brand bro.. been used kenwood, pioneer and now clarion..

Since HU also got imitation so need to be careful when buy it.. to be on safe side and hassle free, buy from authorised dealer and install at their shop..

I am not sure is it installer problem or wat. Coz I Google and found there is a antenna wire as to be connected to power up antenna.

Some say even already connect the power but still not clear. After change to certain brand only it works.

Running stock now. Just that I hv some equipment donated to me so I am thinking to fix it. If it will adversely affect fm then I might put it on hold first
