Haha. True bro. Im a samsung fan the moment I used their Note 2. haha. Got it when it was just launched about 2.3k i think. Then upgraded to note 4 2 years ago. And now upgrade to note 8 a month ago. tongue.gif hehehe..
*
Haha. As people said, once you go for Note, there's no turning back, you will always go back to Note. When I sold my S8+, the buyer asked me why opt for Note 8 while my S8+ is still new and pristine? There's not much difference mah. I said, no matter which brand or model I switched to, I would always go back to Note series no matter what. And he was like "huh?". LOL.

Anyway, I guess I will stick to the Note 8 until next year. Next few months no more switching phone anymore. However, I am not sure whether I will go for Note 9 next year. The economy is getting bad nowadays. By that time Note 9 sure will exceed RM4000, which is a lot to swallow. Unless there's a breakthrough, if not, better stay with Note 8. Must tahan my desire.... tongue.gif

Did notice that sometimes it will pop out a message showing touch input blocked, might be my hand touch on the screen or some where else, not sure how to trigger it cos once i leave off my hand thn it will be ok ady
*
That's weird. Could be some part of your hand touched the edge while you are using the phone? Not sure about you guys. But based on my experience, I did find out that the edge of Note 8 is quite sensitve compared to S8.

This is a nice to have but not a must have. Does anyone know how to make the Telco name appear in the Status Bar in the Home Screen? By default it is only shown in the Lock Screen. TQ.

really? I didn't know that. Thanks for the alert. Will avoid this case in the future.

Kind of curious to know why Samsung would have released such case that cannot support their own technology... hmm.gif

Looks like Note 8 battery life on idle performance is not that consistent. Mine overnight (7-8 hours, everything off except mobile network) sometimes dropped only 2%-3%, but occasionally it did dropped 5% (max). May be it's because I am using LED view cover and Clear view cover which are also consuming a little bit of juice, not 100% sure though. Fortunately, the on screen battery usage is excellent. I guess I can bear with the weak idle performance. Hopefully the future update will fix this issue.

i leave the mobile network on too, off the data only
i noticed that if you are on screen to do stuff for longer time, it is actually consume lesser battery compare to frequently on and off screen to view stuff for a short while
*
Ya. I noticed this too. I checked my battery usage everytime before I charge. And guess what? The "device idle" always took more battery juice compared to network/android system/OS. I never had this kind of issue when I was using Note 5 & S8 plus. Normally, device idle would be the last in the battery usage ranking. But for Note 8, it's another way around. At first, I thought it's the cover since it got smart function such as open the flip cover to wake up the phone. Now after reading your comment and knowing that you have similar experience, I guess we can conclude that Note 8's idle is not that "idle" at all. doh.gif Fortunately, like you said, Note 8 consume lesser battery when on screen. If not, I will be rage. LOL

For people who are planning to buy Samsung official flip cover, but don't know which one to go for. Here's my little advice.

I am currently using LED view cover (I bought it from SES) and Clear view standing cover (got it free from roadshow), back and forth. 1 week of usage for each cover respectively.

My verdict: Go for the LED view cover.

It's lighter. It's less bulkier. The back got texture so easier to grip. The feel is good. Not to mention the price is cheaper.

I don't recommend Clear view standing case mainly because of its back. It's too smooth. Your won't be able to grip it firmly on one hand. Not to mention that it's heavier and bulkier compared to LED view cover, which making it much uneasy to hold when you are using the phone. Unless you love the front clear view very much (which is nicer to look at but also prone to the scratches and smudges), I can't see the point of using it.

Just my 2 cents.

Other question. Since use w/charging, any idea to close usb port below ?.
Something like this - USB C Anti Dust Plug Set
*
IMO, it's not good to put the plug into the port all the time. It may spoil your usb port. I would rather keep it open instead of plug in and plug out everytime I need to use the port. To me, it's not worthy. Afterall, why need such thing while our device is IP68 rating right?

For my fellow Note 8 comrades, I would like to introduce this youtube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjMVmz06ab...1mAMnQ/featured

Inside got a lot of tutorials on how to explore and utilize the features and functions of Note 8 & S8, such as Edge lightning, S note, etc. Highly recommended!

Huawei is going to launch a stylus for Mate 10 right?
*
Not yet to be confirmed. We will have to wait until tomorrow night and see the revelation. But even it's true, their stylus still has a long way to go if they want to compete with Galaxy Note series.

only interested on its quad camera and AI learning that using on its kirin 970 laugh.gif
*
Yup. Exactly correct. Other than these 2 factors, there's nothing much to talk about Mate 10. Even their latest chip kirin 970 processor power is not much different with SD 835 & Exynos 8895. Frankly speaking, I was a bit shocked when Huawei announced that their processor will be much powerful than Snapdragon 835 and A11 chip. It's always excited to see those players compete with each other. I almost thought that Huawei will take the crown of the King of Android (in term of CPU raw power) this year due to their latest viral marketing. But at the end, it's just another stunt show. Or may be I misunderstood. May be they mean their latest processor is very powerful because of the AI learning. I guess Huawei is focusing on the AI tech instead of increasing the CPU power this year.

Anyway, it's good to know that my Note 8 is still one of, if not, the top android phone in 2017. biggrin.gif

Here's the leaked Geekbench score of Mate 10. The score is quite similar with the other top Android phones in 2017.

Nah they sent it back to seller

I felt something was wrong since it's stuck in Ipoh for days then I called and found out it was damaged, contacted seller about this. They told me damaged on Thursday morning, seller just got the item back today.  rclxub.gif

Sibeh unlucky me
*
Oh well, accident could happen. I guess that's the risk one need to bear with when buying stuff online. No worry bro. At least they found out the problem before sending it to you. Imagine if you received the item and found out it's cracked afterwards, that would be a huge frustration! It would be a nightmare. Anyway, need to pray harder for the 2nd attempt. I wish you good luck bro! console.gif

Samsung is already working on the Oreo “pilot,” which will be released at the beginning of the new year.

Samsung promises that the Oreo update will minimize background load and it’ll let apps open faster. Other features include new emoji, picture in picture video, new notifications, and a Night Mode.
*
Not only that. It seems that we will also have new Samsung UI/UX in Oreo update.

Here's the news of S8/S8 plus Oreo beta programme. I believe our Note 8 will have the similar programme soon.
