No, you pay the price without GST/VAT, hence if the price displayed is before VAT, do ask first.

After that once it reaches here its Price + Postage + 6%
*
For example if I bought the guitar for RM5000 include postage, the 6% tax will be charged upon RM5000 right? hence need to pay RM300 at the post office?

Correct me if Im wrong

pretty much , you pay the RM300 though the courier, if its post office, that would be it ; if fedex they come your door ask to pay while they deliver

rm300 is best case scenario.
if post office that would mean sent using regular post / ems...
so usually what happens is it will be held at klia customs... and they will then give u 2 options...
go klia to handle all related... or appoint again pos malaysia to deliver to u which means extra pos malaysia misc charges of agent, handling and delivery will usually is at least another rm100+.

how would they contact you to appoint? is it through phone or they'll sent using letter?

Same here, dealt with Thomann and it was no hassle at all. Have you tried the Jack Cassidy bass here?

Let us know how is it with Andertons!

Hi, I bought some pickups from thomann but got held by customs (as stated in the shipment tracking) since last monday. No letter or call from Pos nor DHL. Is it normal for items to be held this long?

Give them a call, occasionally they are unable to contact you, but they should as its likely you have a 6% charge on the pups

DHL? usually they will give u a call and inform u of any GST charges and handle it all for u first...
so best to call DHL themselves and ask.

Just got called from Pos Malaysia, yup my parcel is being detained from Kastam and I already appointed them to pay first on behalf.

However they did inform that Kastam will open the packaging of the parcel. Is it norm for them to do that? is there any risk of my item being damaged or lost in the process?

Why is Pos Malaysia handling it instead of DHL, or even why its Pos Malaysia not Pos Laju?

which courier did you use?

Kastam do inspect packages from time to time but its totally random

Don't know. The tracking number provided from Thomann is DHL but it does state that it will hand over to the local delivery organization once reached Malaysia.

Heck the service is really damn slow

err, you need to know

is it end to end, fast shipping or slow?

looking at what you saying, its likely its the cheapest DHL service around, which drops off to Pos Malaysia (not Post Laju), you might get the "we tried to come but you not be home "card

in general if its that way you can wait up to 2 weeks for things to come.

To be fair, in Malaysia the postal service (no matter the courier) has been greatly inconsistent.

Make sure you have the package covered by insurance, then try not to think too much about it. There will be fast and slow packages. And there are thieves...
