Guys, I wanna ask, if i port out from ookyo, i must have the sim working to reply the SMS right?

Okay heres the story. I lost my phone last last week, thats 24/4/2019. So my Ookyo sim card went hilang as well. Then immediately, I request a new sim, but they took a week plus to deliver to me. Once i got my hand on the sim, it is not activated/spoil/ or god knows what shit happened, the sim wont work. IT's been hell for me, cause it's been 2 weeks without my cell network.
P.S: Their cs is bs-ing with me.

TLDR: Can i port out of ookyo given the sim they gave me is spoil/their cause? What i can do? I need my working number asap.
*
Sorry to say no, you can't. Need to be able to receive sms. Otherwise anyone can steal your number.

question:

1. which 4 apps u guys picked?

2. which torrent app can be added?

3. does it come with call or sms credit? if not how much the rate?

4. if tether to other device, would it still be free for the 4 apps u choose?
*
1. This one depends on you. For me Spotify is a must, twitter as well. The remaining 2 depends. Instagram,Facebook etc

2. None as far as I know

3. No. Can purchase unlimited calls for rm6 a month. SMS is 15 Sen each.

4. No. Only for use on the phone.

given above reason, plus not even a browser app can be added, i would not consider it.

Fair enough, each user different. Am interested to know though which telco you'd consider superior? If you're mentioning torrenting I can only assume that the only telco you can use currently is webe/Unifi mobile's unlimited plan.

My primary purpose is to get on Maxis network for cheapest price. RM30 (or RM36 if you add in unlimited voice calls, which I do) gives 8GB data. By comparison Hotlink Flex gives 5GB at RM40 (unlimited voice + sms). This isn't even including the free use apps (which you have to pay RM5/10 for on Hotlink Flex). And of course Maxis Postpaid even higher price.

I'm a refugee from U and Digi, both of which I used for years (in that order) until congestion made it impossible to continue.

QUOTE(lowya @ May 12 2019, 08:12 AM)
well since you asked...

ookyo strategy is set to fail as it's has the obvious "neither here nor there" characteris sandwiched between um's full unlimited and yoodo's customization.

It's never an unlimited concept if ookyo only limit it to 4 apps, this will be the failure by showing the self conflicting hypocrisy. They must have not understanding that average users uses at least 10 apps.

Anyone who wants unlimited would go for UM, whereas anyone who want to control their usage would end up with yoodo. It's not about superiority, it's about whether it fits the needs well.

Hope i have answered you, and there you have it, free business analytics for ookyo.
*
Actually you're ignoring the most important (IMO) factor which is the telco network.

Assuming we discard that (which is ridiculous, but since you're taking that premise...), then let's compare the plans you're discussing.

U mobile GX30 is very good value. And capped at 3Mbps. For all usage, whatever app it is. Ookyo is capped only for the unlimited apps specifically, and even for the unlimited apps you can just turn off the VPN if you want full speed for whatever reason.

Your statement about 'average user uses at least 10 apps' is nonsense as well. Not all apps are created equal data consumption wise (e.g. Whatsapp even under heavy chat usage is unlikely to be 'worth' making unlimited unless you're the sort who sends and receives videos and images very often), so just the fact that someone is using an app doesn't indicate that its data consumption is significant. Waze users for example, my regular 30km drive uses about 6MB of data per trip.

Yoodo on the other hand is quite a bit pricier for significant amount of data usage. To start off with, a basic no data plan (for a primary line) MUST cost RM8 a month, since almost no handphone user can live for a month without making a single call or sending a single SMS. Add on RM25 for 5GB data and you're getting quite a bit less than what ookyo offers (at roughly equivalent prices). Add on RM35 for 10GB and you get about what ookyo offers (unlikely you'd use less than 2GB on your 4 unlimited apps) for a pricier fee.

Basically you seem to ignore the 8GB data ookyo offers besides the unlimited apps. Moderate users will find that's all they need (in fact earlier on in the thread we have iphone users who can't use unlimited asking about the plan since RM30 for 8GB is quite a steal).

It's not about superiority, as you say. It's about fitting needs well, and consumer needs go beyond just "I want unlimited everything" and "I want to control my usage".

u are either go for unlimited user or customization, ookyo would not be appealing to both group as there are better option as clearly mentioned.

unlimited user will not be demanding for uncapped speed, while customization user would not demand for high quota plan.

Again Ookyo is a "neither here nor there" kind of plan, like a jack of all trade but master of none.
*
Must be nice to have everything black and white. Either this or that, nothing in between.

Just like years ago when you can either choose plans with data and pay per use for calls/sms or choose plans with bundled call/sms but pay per use for data. Because of course people only use data or only use call/sms right? Where got anyone want a plan with both, jack of all trade but master of none whistling.gif

I've used umobile, digi, celcom and maxis. Umobile is the worse. Give unlimited but line damn bad. Really useless telco.

Really depends where you are. Just like all telco. Of course, I think U is worse on average.

Its totally unlimited, what do you mean by 'how unlimited'?

Your real question should be, how many hours you want to use, what's the bandwidth/hour use, then multiply that. Because unlimited is actually unlimited.

Then what is the reason let us topup via maxis topup? What can i do with these credit?
*
To purchase add-ons. Previously there was an RM8 for unlimited call/sms, then they removed it. Now replaced with a RM6 for unlimited call (30 days).

Other add-ons are additional unlimited apps (prices vary) for duration of your current cycle, and additional data. All of this is shown in the main page.

Think of the RM31.80 (with SST) as your monthly fee. The credit is for the above only, doesn't go to your monthly fee.

The 1st i know.

The 2nd i know too, that's why i scare rm30.55 wasted for the additional purchase 5th or more apps.

1stly i pay rm31.80 I bought this new simcard. So i left rm0.55, and they give me google rm3. Then i go seven eleven bought rm30 hotlink top up. So become now rm30.55 + rm3 Google pay. I want use these money to buy new or 2nd unlimited apps. But don't know how to combine these money to buy. Now i am in grace period.
*
I don't understand why you don't want to just pay the 31.80? You can't do anything when in grace period anyway, whether it's purchase apps or whatever

Who is going to check credit when got unlimited call.
*
Not saying it's your fault (definitely its ookyo system problem) but after every call my phone will come out USSD2 message showing how much credit used up. When I'm on unlimited it shows 99,999 minutes or something like that, but when I forget to purchase it will show the actual amount of credit I have left, so after one call I will know something is up.
