Um, semi true. An acoustic guitar and electric guitar has generally the same "style" of playing, but for electric (especially with distortion), you'll need to learn how to control the distortion and tones of your guitar.
For an acoustic, you'll really need to learn how to "dig-in" your fingers to produce the tone, as compared to an electric guitar where all you basically need to just touch the strings to produce tone. But of course, acoustic also has a more natural or harmonic sound that somehow the electric guitar can never replicate (Piezo pickups? Maybe.... Semi-Hollow WITH piezo? Possibly.... but still not close).
And of course, don't expect to play whammy bar dive bombs and Van Halen tapping or Death Metal grind on your acoustic either......
Ok, I see this becoming a thread more on "Should I Take a Music Course?" rather then "What's the Difference Between Acoustic/Electric guitar?"... So, I'll close this thread.
If Thread Starter wants me to keep it open for whatever reason, PM me and I'll consider...... but for now.......
