hi all, due to the recent SST announcement for credit cards, I would like to cancel my maybank 2 card AMEX platinum only and keep the VISA platinum. Can this be done? how about the treat points in AMEX can it transfer to VISA ?

I think this question have been beaten to death a few times on this forum. And yes...I'm also guilty for asking this before.

No, you can't selectively cancel the "one" card you don't want. It's a package deal.

Before having knee jerk reactions, why not wait until 01 Sept and see what they say? It's possible that Maybank will absorb the charge for one card out of the two.

In my situation, I have Maybank 2 Card Plat with supplementary...so I'm looking at RM100 if they bluntly charge per card sweat.gif

thanks for the clarification. I travel abroad and this AMEX is totally useless

Maybe not.

If you travel abroad (I; myself, travel a lot), and buy the ticket with Amex, there's complimentary travel insurance. And there's also treat points.

I use the AMEX card more than I use my VISA Infinite (now cancelled) local and overseas, and I really like not having the contact-less feature.

try to go europe restaurants or shopping malls.
purchasing online air ticket is not an issue. Some hotels don't even accept AMEX.

If you're talking about wide usage in Europe; Yes, I have had same issues in Schengen area every time. Only mostly high end places in Europe accept AMEX (Yes, I've tried and I know). If you travel often to Europe and not exactly frequenting high end places, AMEX would be pretty much useless and you're probably better off with something like a VISA Infinite.
