Hello,
so i'm international student and have AIA personal medical card.
after i submit my application to AIA they send me conditional approval (if i agree to the exclusion, i'm covered).
the exclusion says:

DUO TO COMPANY RULE, A-LIFE MED REGULAR AND A-PLUS MED BOOSTER ARE LIMITED TREATMENT WITHIN MALAYSIA ONLY.

i travel often outside Malaysia and have travel insurance BUT, in travel insurance if injury happens overseas they might treat me where i got injured cover by them, or they might evacuate me to my country of residence (malaysia in my case ) to receive treatment and to be paid by MY LOCAL INSURANCE, which is AIA.

my question is, does this exclusion mean i cant use AIA insurance to pay the cost of treatment in overseas hospital only? or does it mean i cant use it even in Malaysia if the injury occurs overseas?

i called AIA like three times and they said i cant use the card only since no one accept it overseas but i can submit receipts and claim after i return to malaysia, which they misinformed me i guess because the exclusion is clear about this side.

thank you

Hi,

The exclusion is quite straight forward, all claims for treatment can only be claimed within Malaysia. There won't be any pay and claim when you do any treatment outside of Malaysia.

how about injuries occurs overseas and have treatment in Malaysia after i return?

Yes, in this case you can claim if you're injured overseas and come back to Malaysia for the treatment.

so since i have travel insurance as well, if injury happens overseas, the travel insurance will evacuate me to malaysia and then AIA will handle the medical charges within malaysia...Correct?

one last thing, where i can find what kind of sports are excluded from aia policy? because i know diving is excluded from most of insurance companies but when i called aia, they said its not excluded but we might or might not cover you depending on the accident. which is not an answer.
