Just bought mi note 3, 64GB at RM1188 and so far it's really good. Navigating the user interface is fast and smooth, even while downloading new apps and updating while syncing.
Speaker is insanely good, the main down firing speaker is loud and clear, no distortion but lack bass or should I say NO BASS at all. Top speaker / headpiece speaker is tinny and well kinda pointless but it's kinda cool... I guess? It definitely doesn't sound muffle like waterproof smartphones speakers like on Samsung Note 8.
Camera is just average. Nothing special but gets the job done. Low light definitely struggling a lot so not recommended for people who likes to take photos/videos in the dark.
Miui is great, very ios-like which is not a bad thing since if you don't like it you can just use a different theme. Still aren't use to the volume rocker on the right side, always accidentally pressed it when I want to press the power button xD
Overall, for RM1188 it's good. Though I don't know how long this cheap thing will last but at least while it lasted it's pretty good.
PS: Currently using the stock (9.1.4) that came with the phone and I don't think i'll ever update because reading online seems like it's quite a gamble and your device might start acting up so for now I think i'll just stick to this since it works.

QUOTE(adie82 @ Apr 28 2018, 10:07 PM) Camera averageš® For me its perform better than ip7+. Image sharper and less noise vs ip7+ I don't know it looks kinda soft compared to my previous note 8. I'm not a camera geek so do I even know what i'm talking about? Probably not It's not exactly a heavy hitter like iphone x, pixel 2, s9 plus but it'll get the job done.

Also one more interesting thing, the finger printer scanner you need to register a pretty good one or else the detection is kinda flaky as in, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't, not sure if my finger print sensor is a special kind of snowlake or my finger prints are defective (yikes xD)
Anyhow, press your finger and make sure its centered, do it several times without moving so it can register the full pattern and when it ask to move just a little bit up or down.

QUOTE(adie82 @ Apr 28 2018, 11:53 PM) Fp u need to register as many angle as u can until complete. So next time u just touch it will automatically recognize your fp. Me et 1st also do some mistake to touch at the centre of my finger until complete. But now, i can touch easily without specific angle. I did try registering multi angle finger print but my finger print must be defective or something because it generated a lot of error. So next I really focus on one spot and really pressed it against the reader and let it read the same spot over and over until its registered. It definitely works much better with less error. When your using mykad at bank the staff move your finger (if the scanner fails to read your finger print the first time) to make sure it reads the center part so I guess it's the same thing with this smartphones scanner.

QUOTE(DannyOP @ May 22 2018, 05:27 PM) Just got the Mi Note 3 for my wife, so far it's good for the price below rm1200 brand new. Was thinking of getting used units of S7 Edge or Mate 9 but getting a new unit feels more secure in terms of warranty. Although it doesn't have 18:9, the traditional 5.5in, glass body and 64GB 6GB memory with Snapdragon 660 is plenty smooth. I would say a better buy than the Redmi Note 5. Its a solid phone for the price, I cant complain much other than the metal frame quite slippery due to the black powder coating. But thats not a problem since there is a tpu case included. If anyone needs a cheap temporary phone this is the one to get.
