The Beyerdynamic DT150. these are circumaural CLOSED cans at 250ohm impedance.
EDIT: nope...walabies was referring to Orpheus

Uncle Wilson couldnt stop raving about these cans...even some of the other customers there as well... i step into the shop only wilson immediately said "i got something u will definately want" and handed me the DT150

i only managed to test for a very short while, wasnt interested in testing longer coz i didnt have music i was familiar with on me and i wasnt familiar with the music they had there either.

anyway, they are friggin detailed! 2 WOMEN came in to the shop while i was there, 1 of them (who has the DT990 '05) even started grinning from ear to ear when she auditioned these cans. the other, who was looking for closed cans and auditoning a few others, also started smiling, right after the DT150 she auditioned the AT A900, and her comments was "this one is good, but after i listed to that one (pointing to DT150) ....... " both me and wilson started laughing.







there are 3 cons to these cans

1/ as u can see, theyre UGLY AS HELL!!!!!!!
2/ price, think its abit on the high side for most people
3/ strong clamping force!! and i mean strong! also one of the reasons i didnt test them longer

and last but not least


yes, alcoholic drinks in the store. Wilson said every friday night is a party there wish i went there on friday night but was too tired after driving for almost 6 hours that i even fell asleep at 1030 pm!

no impressions yet (except that it sounds much cleaner than the a2zs, and soundstage is much improved), coz the fubar only has a few hours on it. opamp is still the oh-lee-gee-nal opamp. wanna get used to this sound signature first before switching both (the opamp and that jrc thingy) to the OPA2107 (empire: better save 2 pieces for me!! ) . that might take another month or 2.

The "god of can" I mentioned is "orpheus", not DT150, too bad it isnt there that time. DT150 is too expensive for me to try that. Stax Omega is USD14000? Nop... Stax isnt a god yet... lol joking.
I wasnt able to try all of them (I bet you too). Some are in the box so I wouldnt dare to open it.

any reviews on the Fubar? What's the reason you choose the Fubar instead of other DACs like Zhaolu?

OI! OI!!! i spent over 3 hours choosing, editing and uploading the pix!!!! tired wei!!

was considering the Zhaolu actually but cant get

other than within budget, few reasons i chose foobar...

1/ it was USB.. so easier to connect etc etc.
2/ if i get the zhaolu i have to source for a better transport than my A2ZS. didnt wanna get the USB-SPDIF converter. if i did that might as well i just get the Fubar right? coz still using USB ma.
3/ space constraints. if u look at the pic where i put it. ull see there aint much space for the zhaolu.
4/ its said in head-fi that USB produces the LEAST jitter compared to coaxial or digital SPDIF connections
5/ matches my current battery cute ii amp very VERY nicely

reviews??? me not good at reviews ler...

but so far (16 hours)...im VERY happy with the DAC. soundstage has really improved. started hearing more details. and of course MUCH MUCH cleaner than using the A2ZS. music is just more enjoyable now. cant wait to burn in for over 100 hours. and cant wait to shove in the OP2107 opamp in it

EDIT: forgot to mention that i also use the Fubar for gaming (UT2004) and CPU usage is around 50% only which is normal (P4 630 3.0Ghz + ATI 9550). feels abit weird with the Fubar...need to get used to it. but the A2ZS is DEFINITELY better for gaming.

There's more icute stuff on that rack than when I was there a few months ago...And its not as crowded as you described. A few HeadphoneHaven fellas and sum ang mohs.

BTW, the plugs you just bought are available at RS, RM25 though. But SG$8 for the plug I used is way off lah, since I got it for RM6.

Anything beats A2ZS SCHMUCK on the face..well almost anything It was wise of you not to use the A2ZS SPDIF output, auto resample to 48KHz no matter what you do.

Actually i measured the A2ZS SPDIF output, the thing is abit messy and jittery, although not as bad as the SigmaTel chip on my mobo.

madman made me write this review ... ok la as in he forced me to write down my findings after using his fubar...

i used my HD 595 and Go Vibe v5 paired with his Fubar... i listened to some songs that i usually listene... mainly pop rock... but i did try with some just instrumental music only... one song caught my attention when i used with his fubar... the sound separation did better with this fubar... i could almost tell where each instruments were (well technically speaking)... but that was with just one song, other songs sounded almost the same...it could be due to the cable we used which later we found out that it had some probs... so might need to retest it again with a better RCA cables... that's all for now

oh btw...madman and i are office mates...so u better dun have any ideas that he actually lent his fubar to me which is barely 1 week old ... he is a evil madman after all

sounds fake compare to pure copper and pure silver cable.
those two with cheaper price range can pawned the cable ANY TIME. provided in same AWG.
i think alamaklor has same finding also.

cable fights are more like crap to me.

changing source/change amp or any other tweak has more effect than cable.

good point there PcWork, cable fights are okay..just as long as it dun escalate..when u fight over RM100 cable and RM10,000 a meter cable, that is BS..ada ka Valhalla Reference cable cost sumhwere that range...crazeee..to me RM20 a meter cable is good enuff..

of course i'm not trying to say that la.

i'm just trying to say dont fork out too much cash for cables.
personally i can tolerate rm100-200 for cables, but those with four digit price... i'm better off investing a dac or something

Wow the ES5 stick on your head for more than 4 hours? I once wore for 2 hours and HAD to remove it due to the stinging pain. The fatigue comes after 1-2 hours of non-stop listening.
