I just got this phone, it not lag but the screen response time is not that good. You can see the trail (aka ghosting) if your eye sensitive enough. Still, its responsive enough.I upgraded from Mi4 and thats the first one I noticed.

The camera in low light is pretty abysmal too but you can offset this by using HDR bit that made the camera slow to take pictures.

Anyone root this phone yet? I havent updated it yet, just unlocked the bootloader. This phone is so new it doesn't even have custom recovery yet  laugh.gif

What else do you think on its performance, compared to mi4?

Interested to know since I've the mi4 too (on lineage OS)

Other than the screen, performance is great. I play epsxe emulator and run smoothly. Switching between task and opening apps also great because the extra gig of RAM. I'd say its much faster than Mi4. And runs very cool, Mi4 heats up when gaming and sometime when browsing even when underclocked but not on this phone.

Ye lah, the Snapdragon 801 considered antique already I suppose.

but still a flagship once upon a time, even the samsung note 3 snadragon 800 hardly encounter lags during these days apps.

On lineage OS it works like a charm in terms of speed. But heat-wise it'll lose out to the newer midrange ones.

Main gripe with the phone is the slight touchscreen latency. My previous zenfone 2 has lower latency
*
It's really that noticeable is it?

I have the same problem. I think my headphone jack may be too 'fat' for the port, coz even if i plug it in completely, it will pop out if i accidentally twisted it lightly.

May need to find an earphone adapter that's slimmer, i think.

I think most phones like this already. My nexus 6 was never able to penetrate completely (apologies for lack of a better word).

Saw the phone in flesh at Digital Mall yesterday. Must say I'm impressed.

If only the Mi5x would get a price cut due to everyone flocking to MiA1, I'd just get a Mi5x and install a custom rom haha.

Guys we need more camera samples esp in low light.

Unrelated, but I once had Skynet deliver a washing machine in dented condition. Like a huge dent! Blacklisted forever!

Finally got one today (well, not me, my wife). While you guys are gunning for lowest price world records, we got it for RM980 at All IT Hypermart at Digital Mall, PJ. At least we got a 16GB microsd thrown in together haha.

Anyone had real life encounters with water? I know it's not rated as water resistant but I remember a video showing that it didn't fare that bad either. Kinda like a dealbreaker for me (wife's trying to convert me to join the MiA1 bandwagon).

Bro, shd have buy from lazada for RM829 and buy the Samsung evo plus SD card 64GB at RM80.
u could have save RM80 for ur accessories... wasted...  bruce.gif  bruce.gif

We needed it yesterday, there and then. So unless Lazada can fulfill an order within a couple of hours..

Having said that there were a couple of smaller retailers at Digital Mall selling at lower prices, but we ended buying from All IT considering they're more 'reputable'. Heck unless it's a RM 500 discount like the Note 8, we've no regrets haha.

Short Review after a day
- feel, design and quality of the phone is great
- battery is amazing so far,100% at 11pm last night and I still have 33% as of now. Quite suprised as it's 3000mah only
- very light and minimalist OS without bloatware.makes really smooth and snappy.
- as this is pure Android,it might not suit some users as it has minimal features
- would have preferred more options to wake the phone instead of just the power button as of now

#fingerprint lah!

- volume control/silent shortcut on the drop-down would be nice too.

# it's called Do not Disturb

- camera is what's expected.
In summary, great phone and a refreshing change to use one.loving it so far

Sorry but fingerprint not to unlock phone after u press the power button to wake the phone?

Yeah,I found out the dnd acts as silent button activation ,but can't do vibrate.
*
So you just want to wake the phone but not unlock it? Oh well. I haven't used Gravity Screen for a while but you can try that third party app. Also apps that let you wake using the volume buttons.

When you press DND, go to More Settings. You can set vibration rules/settings.
