Depends , memory leak and also the torrent you are downloading.Bitcomet is famous in memory caching so if your file is few GB it'll sure cache 1 to 5% of your total torrent file if not mistaken.
Is it safe to buy online ? sad.gif I really want to know pasing through my information and credit card online.
Are you using vista ? I too would like to ask expert , why the screen display before the login flicks ? anyone know ?
Does dell BIOS update fix the buzzing noise of C2D ???
*
Yeap, Im using Vista...home premium...yalo..why its distorted with black lines..but after that its ok.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(cruel_boy @ May 30 2007, 05:20 AM)
u ppl pord forward also no point... tmnut is throttling our line....
*
but my fren in Melaka studying in MMU but not staying in the hostel said that when he port forward, his download speeds for bitcomet are faster boh... blush.gif

QUOTE(kockroach @ May 30 2007, 10:36 AM)
Cuz the hard disk of my desktop almost "kong"  after a few year of torrent, so I don't dare to risk my lappy anymore. haha
*
Oh...haha...maybe its cos u on 24/7 gua...lol laugh.gif i think torrents should be ok..but nowadays nearly everything especially series are in torrent format..if cant use torrent then use direct download meh? rclxub.gif

Wahaha...look what i got from wikipedia..proves that steventan85 was involved with Dell in the early 2000s! rclxms.gif tongue.gif

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell
From Marketing section:

A popular United States television and print ad campaign in the early 2000s featured the actor Ben Curtis playing the part of "Steven," a lightly mischievous blond-haired kid who came to the assistance of bereft computer purchasers. Each television advertisement usually ended with Steven's catch-phrase: "Dude, you're gettin' a Dell!" Dell fired Curtis shortly after his arrest for marijuana possession in 2003 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan; however, Dell denies that the firing resulted from his arrest, stating that the "Steven" ads had run for three years and characterizing them as "stale". The Dell ads featuring Curtis had stopped playing before his arrest, thus lending credence to Dell's statement.

my budget was originally RM4500
managed to adjust here and there and finally able to get the ATI X1400
cheaper then the 7300 . . . the difference between both notebooks are RM8
LOLZ
just that the one with the 7300, i can get bluetooth but no bag
and the one with X1400 i can get bag but no bluetooth,
since i dont use bluetooth much and already have one of those USB bluetooth dongle so i mite as well go with the X1400  biggrin.gif

final choice :

DELL INSPIRON(tm) 6400 NOTEBOOK
Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Duo Processor T7200 2GHz,
4MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
Microsoft(R) Works 8.5
120GB
2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW
256MB ATI X1400
Integrated Stereo Sound
Wireless & CARRY CASE  biggrin.gif
15.4" Wide Screen XGA TFT Display with Truelife
3 Yrs Complete Cover

RM4565

I going for the advice with the complete cover, better safe then sorry happy.gif
*
Wow..all of these specs damn chun...but yup..better wait for santa rosa platform...3 years complete cover is a good choice..but pretty expensive and it jacks up the overall price..but..i good choice! rclxms.gif

3.5" external is to use with external power supply (adaptor), my 100GB seagate 2.5" external working fine, only need to hook one cable to 6400 usb port.
*
Oh..so meaning when i buy the external casing, will they include the adaptor in it? or do i have to purchase it seperately? so meaning one USB in the lappie and one more to the socket on the wall?(for power)?

I am also using one those 3.5" Usb hdd casing. And yes, one for usb and also one power adapter. Both are included. So, make sure that you check before buying. Normally the shops would ask you to test first.
*
Oh...so meaning they will ask me to test on my inspiron 1st? tongue.gif okok thanks dudes.. rclxms.gif notworthy.gif what is ur brand and casing brand calvin?

Better to get a good casing with good review on it. Don't get those cheap one because want to save money, the harddisk may get damage if too hot.
If you are not going to carry the harddisk around, get 3.5" one better, larger space with cheaper price. If you want portable only get 2.5".
*
Which casings for 3.5 inch notebook do u recommend?

I think i'll get a 3.5" one...basically need one to store all my info...movies and etc..

Anyone here try the Zalman laptop cooler? Is it better than the Cooler Master?
*
I have the Zalman laptop cooler...just got it recently...they are only selling one model right? Cooler master has a few models of laptop coolers..I suggest that u get the Zalman laptop cooler...it really cools down my lappie and its perfect for the Inspiron 6400...since it is has a flat surface to support your laptop....I haven really tried or seen the cooler master ones but I heard it can scratch ur lappie based on the design....overall im really satisfied with my Zalman cooler..its quiet and does its job well...which is cooling my lappie! rclxms.gif highly recommended icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmm...big ah..I dun really think its big lo...abit bigger than the Inspiron 6400 and not to say that heavy also la..its reasonable..the size and weight...

I got it for RM155 from one shop in Lowyat...forgot the name...

Some pictures I took of the cooler..sorry for the low quality photos (taken with my mobile phone) tongue.gif

Thanks a lot for the pictures because initially I thought it would be too small to fit with my 6400 notworthy.gif

Yeap..Zalman has only one model...but its excellent! icon_idea.gif No problem! Glad to have another Zalman cooler user around here! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxms.gif You wouldn't regret your purchase...hehe rclxms.gif

Sure,NFS Carbon can play smooth at vista.Im using X1400,no lagging isue.Settings i put 800x600,medium with 2x anti aliasing.Smooth for me.But loading slow abit compare with winxp.
*
Ur one is pirated copy or original minghao? Isit the collectors edition one? DVD or CD? lol....sorry for so many questions..cos i want to play..but like i said..saw that it is not in the Vista compatible list..and i couldn't play the demo...It goes into the game..and until the movie with EA games logo....then suddenly it exits and goes back to windows..and an error pops up..saying "windows encountered and error, search online for the problem and stop the program" or "stop the program". My fren who has a Inspiron 6400 also says that his VISTA cant play NFS:Carbon...did u do any extra stuff for installation? minghao? notworthy.gif

90?  shocking.gif that's a bit too much right?  Try to cut down.

That's the thing with Vista, so many background programs running, me running 2GB of RAM also feel it's much slower than XP.  I have thus reverted back to XP, until Vista comes out with SP1 at least.  biggrin.gif
*
wow..lol...so its true..its cos of the processes thats why my dell is so hot..lol tongue.gif but i see that most are used by the system and mcafee..what is command line interface guys?

QUOTE(ching4ever @ Jun 6 2007, 07:10 PM)
90 processes? shocking.gif  That's consider super a lot!!! Close and delete those useless software, it will help to reduce a lot and make your laptop run faster.

I'm using Windows XP, I modify the service in WinXP, now my laptop boot up with only the service needed for me. Including the NOD32 anti virus, my laptop boot up with only 25 processes.
*
How to u modify the service needed? and how do u recognize what is needed and what is not? sigh..Vista no wonder lags so much on computers with 1gb ram..good thing i have 2gb..lol rclxms.gif

refer to The Black Viper's Vista Services Tweaking guide, but be warned that there is always a risk in it.  btw, read XP Myth (sorry couldn't find vista yet) b4 you tweak, some tweaking are overkill actually
