well its just how it is. As soon as the number expires it will go back to the pool. If you happened to be assigned or choose that number then you get it

Phone number is already depleting so I won't be surprised if it's recycled so soon.

Not surprising at all ... digi is very aggressive ... but with limited number to assign its makes perfect sense to recycle an unused pool as soon as possible. Don't assume that only numbers of few years old will be recycled ...

whatsapp no problem, can exit the group anytime. Better than debt collection agencies looking for previous owner, 6 days a week up till 9pm also call. Worst, they didn't believe you that you are the new owner. I had this experience from my Celcom number bought few months back.

It's a standard by most countries to control the 'inflation' of phone numbers in fear of having to end up having ridiculously long telephone numbers in the future. Imagine 012-1234567890123456789 as a phone number one day.

However by adding another digit in the area codes will help as well. Countries like the U.S. has 3-digit area codes.

My relative have encounter his 20 - 30 years mobile number auto terminated by telco due to went to oversea and account suspended due to outstanding. He might forget to convert to Prepaid at the time being, therefore when he noticed number was terminated he quickly clear all outstanding and request back the VIP number, it takes like months the case not resolved because the telco doesn't want to release back the VIP number they keep it for themselves zz.

Eh bro .... you where got asking stupid questions? This is perfectly valid one la ...

All the 011 numbers are not given/assigned to telco in huge blocks like before ... I ask some dealers about this so they said SKMM assigned the first 2 digit and only 1 million only per block assigned. For ex: DiGi, 011-26xx-xxx, Onexox, 011-20xx-xxx, Umobile 011-21xx-xxx.

If you get onexox new starter packs then it is lower probability to get a recycled number at the moment (simple reason: 28 months validity is a long time for quick recycling ... and also SKMM assigned onexox 2 million new numbers last year) ... even Voopee numbers last very long time ... I've already seen recycled Digi and Umobile 011 numbers though.

whatsapp system is not your telco system.
whatsapp only see your number, not the ownership changes behind the number.

--------

you login to whatsapp, then try to close down the whatsapp account altogether. it's somehwere in the menu. see if that will clear things up after you register anew.

I did this account closure before, although I didn't change number.

you misunderstood.

any msisdn is recycleable. and judging by how active our mobile users are, slim chance that you'll be getting virgin numbers. my primary line registered ~7yrs ago already have 3 users before me.

how long a deregistered number gets recycled and re-offered on the market, it's up to the telco.

it just happened to be that you snapped up a msisdn (new, from your point of view) a month after it was deregistered by previous owner.

----------------

of course your msisdn already have an active whatsapp since it was registered for by previous owner. *duh*

telco and whatsapp have no relationship. yes, the telco already cleaned up its own relationship with previous owner. but whatsapp does not have that deregistration detail. you can't blame whatsapp for maintaining the account opened by previous msisdn owner as account was never cancelled.

I had same issue with rhb. previous owner didn't pay celcom bill; got deregistered. then I registered. but since rhb have no relationship whatsoever with celcom, it never dissociate the number from previous owners, and until today rhb still refuse to clean up and stop sending TAC to me. hell, even all his/her whatsapp contact chased me instead for his/her unpaid monies.

he just mentioned that get know the number was recycle via whatsapp when he 1st login and saw there were active group in whatsapp
but you keep point that he blame whatsapp laugh.gif

and he did not blame whatsapp for the active group (and again u need to read again) and not delete the group or whatsoever

ok, I misread the rant because I see whatsapp all over.

but still, why rant about the number get recycled too early or too soon.

it won't change the fact that it is recycled, and it wont change the relationship with any contact who had this number before. and it will still show up already registered in whatsapp one year later.

I believe all 3 main telcos digi, maxis and celcom is fast recycled. Especially for their assigned main prefix 012, 013, 017, 019 and 016. Chances of getting calls or texts looking for previous owners are high compare to the not so hot prefix 011, 010, 014 or maybe 018.

Anyone here that want to use Celcom in the future, please avoid 019-2613656.

What a nightmare of using this number. Debt collector, insurance, loan agent keep calling me to collect debt, promote new products and so on.

Now I'm using number started with 0111, I feel so happy, no more disturb from unwanted call.

If you guys want to use new number, I suggest you take number started with 0111 ....
