Htkaki, i should had go listen to your brothers setup the other day ... mine still missing some touch, will be getting the foams later on this evening.

If you go to his house and listen, then you will feel that our setup is miles apart for music. His CDP already abt RM3.5K  sweat.gif Using Cardas Interconnects.

After auditioning, kena poison again. This time, maybe you will buy good CDP, nice cables, a dedicated stereo amp.

hmmm... wont mind dropping by the next time I'm around, anyway with the foams I got what i wanted and speakers sounded like what i expected, even with movies my gf also noticed the tightness and clarity.

Ok, this weekend I'll snap a few.
I followed you bro's recommendation for the fixtures, since my sitting position is smack wall to wall. "sofa at one wall and screen on the other"
I placed 4 sheets behind my front speakers and 2 pcs behind my sofa. I'm able to push back my front speaker nearer to the wall and clear the walk way.
Bass if much fuller and tight. no more loose and messy. Clarity from the horns are so clear and soothing, unlike before where it tends to irritate.
Yep, you're correct about the echo problems .. reflections of sound create a delay and turns out compressed. Layering is ok ok .. maybe i need a better player and source.

I'm not sure if my placements are correct or not, but it works pretty good with how i placed it .. I hantam only .. maybe you can share more tips on the placements.

Attached Image Attached Image
The ones that I used are 500mm x 1000mm in size.

I padded the rear of my front speakers with 4 sheets of the foams, and I'm able to push my speakers 1.5feet from the walls. good focused bass.
Attached Image Attached Image
I did wanna cover my side walls, still in nego stage and awaiting approval.

As for my rear sitting position, i wish to cover even the ceiling but permit tak lepas, so just 2 sheets behind for the moment.
Attached Image

So far so good, as I said earlier.. it's clean and clear.
Would like some ideas about placements too .. I just hantam oni.

I think the other thread purely for specs and pictures right? But no general discussion or talk about HT. So maybe we can keep this thread for general HT talk?
*
I agree.

Yep this thread is for us to blow water i guess! the initial idea of having all pictures at one page, was because I never made it beyond page 30+ every time i start from the beginning.

Pictures and arrangements could help give ideas and as a reference to all.

Could we keep both?

benjaminn,
Your room seems pretty bare, do you not have any acoustic problems?
htkaki is very good at trouble shooting this problem, I showed him some pictures of my setup and he guided me through the testing and treatments.
Now I'm loving it, calibrations, and comments from him are very useful, I never knew my system can sound like this before.

Thanks htkaki.

why not trying out presence? maybe you'll love it.
I know that it'll give you the ambient, long halls might not do much, but wide on the other hand might get a wider sound stage.

since you have the extra speakers , why not give em a try?

Thus, some notes will be louder than the other.
In other words, if there are 6 band members playing, you can only feel that 3 are playing. The other 3 are like being eclipsed.

this is still not that bad if you're using an AVR, as you are still able to lower down the db for different hz, would be tough when using a tube, but still you're able to adjust using your cdp.
my previous encounter was it sounded bright, details we superb but with slight modifications on the EQs you're able to push the bands to one stage and still layered them out naturally.
adjustments can still be made.

mega,

11x11 it's ok la .. you just need some sound traps to balance back the harmony. I thought that my room was good enough but having people visiting once a while for audition, I find that it's better after comments and adjustments. my room is a bout 15' x 11' with one open alley, and I sit smack right to the wall. (this gave me a lot of disadvantages, but was able to counter with rear wall absorption panels. Can't rearrange on the other position as the sliding door is on the path.

If you're interested, I can work something out for you.

This is the link which shows the ceiling corner foam that I mentioned.

http://www.echobusters.com/cornerbusters.html

bro s6xs9x,

You can get this ceiling corner foam?  rclxms.gif
*
Nope I don't think so, anyway I'm not sure how it looks like and made from what material.
I'm only able to get simple absorption foams with eggshell profile cut at the moment, I'm working also on other pattern and on diffusion panels as well.

The first batch that I took in worked very well.
