Can someone list 5-10 brand of SSD according to reputation from your opinion?
Currently i am using Samsung 850 Evo, but planning to get a new one with NVMe M.2 SSD for incoming ryzen 3rd generation rig as OS and Software Drive. (480 / 500 / 512 GB Capacity) Thanks.

hi guys
need your inputs here...

is 256gb SSD enuff to be used as main OS drive?

and what brand\model have the best price for 256gb rite now?
*
256gb should be enough, unless you need to install alot of software to the OS drive.
Normally windows + something else only cost less than 40gb.
For gaming usage, better buy a another qlc ssd for additional space also enough for gaming i think.

But the price need add GST...not worth for buying from there, unless items that not available in malaysia...
Buy from lazada or others e-commerce can get more discount if use more time to find... cool2.gif

512gb really better value for now.
For past year, 256gb is good value for usage but since the price lower 25-35% than last year so 512gb is the best selection for now.

Which one will be the best option now:

barracuda ssd 250gb - RM173 - RM0.692/gb
860 evo ssd 250gb - rm195 - rm0.78/gb
mx500 ssd 250gb - rm210 - rm0.84/gb
sandisk ultra 3d 250gb - rm169 - rm0.676/gb
ADATA SU800 256gb - rm170 - rm0.664/gb
mx500 ssd 500gb - rm317 - rm0.634/gb
sandisk ultra 3d 500gb - rm269 - rm0.538/gb
ADATA SU800 512gb - rm284 - rm0.555/gb
860 evo 500gb - rm359 - rm0.718/gb

Which one is the best one to choose ya?
*
For me i will choose a 860 evo 500gb,but it still abit expensive,so Crucial MX500 and then next choose ADATA SU800.
Nowadays 500/512gb got more space and it will let your ssd more additional space to boost your ssd performance.
Since the research said that full ssd speed boost need 1/4 free space of ssd.
256gb abit small.

SSD and Ram might raise price again in next few months.
Since the sales and production is increasing in last few weeks.
And also ryzen 3gen is coming.
It would be better to get your SSD and Ram within next month.

Then don't waste money on the HDD, wait a few months so you can save some money to get 1TB SSD
A Silicon Power 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD is only RM439

I just bought a Crucial MX500 on shopee with RM499.This one got dram cache, better performance. only more RM60 only reasonable price.

QUOTE(EBBattlefield @ Feb 16 2020, 07:01 PM)
what a time to be alive...... 2TB Sata SSD gonna cost less than 500 bucks soon tongue.gif
*
I dont think so,unless u want qlc ssd then 2tb for less than 500 is possible in this year.
This year ssd and ram price keep goiing up,so far i dont see any price drop possible, unless the virus totally controlled, and more and more factory production boost.

yeah... most shops running out of SSD (especially those big capacity) ; they waiting for new batch.. and the price will be jacked up.... Adata 8200Pro 1TB will cost >RM700 soon
*
I also scare,so i just pick up a 1tb mx500 just now..haha
For following weeks or months, those thing only price up until at least Q3 or Q4 or maybe next year Q1 or Q2 to start drop again with new technology-(plc ssd, 96,128,even 192 higher stack nand flash or something else) release.
