Saw two WD blue 250gb SSD, one is NAND and one is not. Is there any difference between them? Which one should I buy for OS?

Hi guys,
I am on the market for a 240/250gb SSD and saw that the Intel 540s is selling at RM299. Is this a good buy compared to Crucial MX500 and Samsung 850 EVO? Both are selling at RM359 each. Thanks in advance. |

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 25 2018, 02:43 PM) if possible, don't save the extra few bucks, and get 850 evo. you get 2 more years of warranty. if you're looking for entry-level ssds, i suggest you look at mainstream options, because of the following reasons: 1. the price gap between mainstream and entry-level is too small; 2. the performance gap between the two is relatively significant. if you're really having budget constraints, well, entry-level is still fine for light usage, and they're still ok compared to hdd, when the usage is within their limits. QUOTE(sHawTY @ Mar 25 2018, 03:17 PM) I strongly urge you two to get the Samsung 850 EVO ok thanks guys Their firmware updates is frequent & RMA services is top of the line No doubt the price is higher but think of the 5 year warranty rather than other brands that only provides you 2 ~ 3 year warranty I'll shall get the samsung 850 evo |

QUOTE(x-1o8-x @ Mar 26 2018, 02:51 AM) QUOTE(horns @ Mar 26 2018, 02:58 AM) 860evo is like 23% more expensive than 850evo. yes internally 860evo has new 3d-nand, there is no significant performance gain. 860evo is out of reach for me and 850evo is already stretching my budget. I'll stick on getting 850evo since many praised it. |

1TB SSD pricing is coming down, some priced under RM1K but still on the expensive side. Maybe I should just get a WD black? I am going to use it for games.

Wow, SSD prices sure have gone down since the last time I've checked. Makes me wonder whether I should ditch my 2TB WD black and get a 1TB SSD.
