I assume your priority is to get into shape and some good cardiovascular exercise.
Skip the hills for now, condition your body on flat roads 1st. Build up your distance by doubling the distance once you can complete without stopping or panting like hell.
5km → 10km → 20km then you can attack hills with ease. Don't everyday la, let your body recover for 2 days~
Drink protein drinks (milk) within 30minutes after your ride for muscle recovery.
When you are not cycling, you can google up what is cassette and chainring. Also look up YouTube tutorials to find your seat post height, saddle and handlebar setting.
Don't rush, we are old geezer dy~
Strongly advise everybody to wear a hear rate monitor, cycling is a hectic sport. You don't want to overwork your precious heart.
Download an app name Strava on your phone to record your rides.
