Ya, I think the XDS fa-20 looks nicer. But I can't find it selling (advertise online) around Klang Valley. Found seller from Penang. Thus, i pick 2nd choice, TRS Volga.
16" bike can add child seat? Will it be too small for an additional child seat?

Btw, where did you bought the fa-20?

Thanks.
*
let me correct myself... an infant seat. LOL. for my 1 yr old kid. i buy it at my local bike shop. it's a basic bike but i kinda like it cos very compact.

Finally got a 20" K-12 foldie to add to my previous 16" one

user posted image

This one has so much improvement over the FA-20 (16") in term of frame stiffness

user posted image

oh, btw, i replaced stock saddle with selle italia gel, and changed back after 1 hour. damn, old age has caught up with me and cause many butt hurts

user posted image

just realized it's hard to find knobby tires for the 20". the stock Maxxis (CST) tyres are too slippery for light offroad or sand or even just wet road. any suggestions? dont give me expensive tyres. my serious mtb days are over.

Think I saw someone selling used on FB for only rm800 posted today. Already having 2 foldies I can't justify buying another one sad.gif
*
never say enough. my first foldie was mainly because i want portability, so i chose the smalled wheel diameter

but after 1 yr using it, the frame flexes badly (coming from a mountain goat climber setup bike - u know, ultra stiff everything), so the new one is a nice upgrade

u never change your FA-20 gearing ar? the ori gearing extremely not enough speed.
*
I changed the whole bike. Easier.LoL

Seriously, the fa20 gearing is ok. I climbed bukit goram with it. Its the flex in the bb area that really irks me

Elsez the bicycle is fine. Even the cantilever brakes are adequate.

hmm.. im no expertlah, but for light offroad there are 2 tyre are recomended

user posted image
1. schwalbe marathon
- durable, touring suitable also light gravel a bit. tested before on dusun trail all ok lor. for me its all rounder tyre!

user posted image
2. michelin protek
- never had chance to tried, but few of my friends using it, its on par with marathon

another tyre to look also is schwalbe big apple.
user posted image
but apart from those 2, i never really like the big apple coz it only comfort but very heavy on tarmac due to its size.
*
thanks bro. i wonder how much they are, especially the maratho & protek.

wow, the schwalbe marathon price... cost more than my house. LOL

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Jun 5 2020, 05:24 PM)
as for the price,
i think the marathon is around rm90+ for 1 piece. marathon also got few siries.. im using marathon racer and quite proven can last more than 5 years
and the big apple almost same price like marathon. can contact billy bike shop in taiping for both schwalbe tyre

as for protek i dont know any seller in malaysia but if u had taobao acc can buy it cheaply around rm70-80
*
ddidnt know 20" tyres are quite expensive, even with wired beads

add a bit more. and u get 26 - 29" kevlar bead tyres for mtb already. LOL

I have this exact same bike. Tried to look up for more info on the bike (Manufacturer's documentation), but nothing. Looks like an XDS K3 frame and fork (I could be wrong) with parts. A tad similar to K1 but the handle bar folding mechanism seems different

My first foldie and loving it so far.

Wife has an XDS Evo 930 and my 8yr old boy rides a Dahon Vybe D7. Love how the Dahon folds but prefer how the K-12 rides. The Evo 930 is probably my least favourite of the 3  ohmy.gif

true about that on the no info about this bike, but no worry, china bike manufacturers are never good with marketing. that's why most of them started as OEM to bigger brands.

but i dare say the frame is quite stiff, so it's good for climbing. of course nothing beats dahon for portability, but then again, u dont get 20" for urban commute. for that u need 16".

how much u paid for yours? mine was rm 1,900 (sarawak price)

I got it for about the same price. RM1990; with some free gifts. Parts feel high quality and fit and finish is really good; even compared to the Dahon Vybe D7 that I got my son. I like the Dahon only because they have that magnet at the font that locks the folding position; and that's all. For everything else, I prefer my XDS.

I haven't weighed the bike but it felt quite light. Been eyeing on the Tern Verge X10. Am obsessed with weight saving  shocking.gif
*
the magnet you can buy. and can attach. i saw some attachment point at the 2 joint. in shopee, the folding bike magnet is abour rm 15 - 20.

dunno how good it is

tern verge x10 has almost similar frame design with XDS, but at higher price. it's the chain stay design a bit different. maybe due to the tern is 451 and the xds is 402 wheels?

actually what's the difference between 406 & 451 wheels? both are 20"?

The one on the XDS K-12 is a 406?

451 is slightly larger diameter wheel than 406.
*
so a 20"x1.5 is a 406?

and a 20"x1-3/8" is a 451?

btw,

Yes that's how respective tyres for corresponding wheels are labelled
*
but..... 20"x1.5 = 20"x1-1/2"

and it's smaller than 20"x1-3/8" = 20"x1.375

or the 1.5 = 1.5cm ?

That one honestly I've never find out.

But I can honestly and positively tell that 451 is indeed bigger than 406. Here's a comparison side by side I have. Although the 451 looks much much bigger in this photo, it is just a matter of perspective and positioning. In actual, the 451 is only larger by no more than an inch

user posted image

One thing I noticed are usually those 20-inch foldies that they marketed as "fast", "racing", "speedy" or something to that effect, usually has 451 wheels as stock, while the more common ones uses 406.

Anyway i can't tell the difference in ride feel between them. My belief is that no matter what bicycle, if leg is powerful, any bicycle oso no problem. If leg no power, any bicycle oso useless.
*
its not about performance, its about replacement wheels, tyres & tubes. LOL

it seems that 451 tyres & wheels are more difficult to find and more expensive than 406
