Cycle to work Damn KTM Komuter charges RM2 for a BIKE fr KEPONG to KL SENTRAL

Bike + ME = RM4.20 per trip (Return 8.40) which is EXPENSIVE for a day journey!

Look like the plan to cycle to work have to scrap until MRT2 is ready..... such pity

It is unfair to pick on those who prefer to ride something nice. At the end of the day, only you can control yourself, haha!

To me it is a hobby indeed. Like you said, you buy what you want, but if you want advice, I’ll give you my 2 cents worth. It may be wrong to you, but right to me.

Hahaha talk about cheap bike I just bought 1... 16" folding for RM375!!! Muahahaha come with China Gear summore... dont know if it can last or not but heck... once kaput will change to Shimano Hub...

It is a 16" Metal folding.... seat pole too short will need to change a longer one hahaha

but I think will serve the purpose for now....

since I already have a Qicycle for daily commute this one is for family riding....

Haha, by installing those good parts, you highlighted the real weakness, the frame! I was given a chinese made folding bike once. Ridden once. You can just about watch the rust forming, heavy as hell, and it makes walking a better option! Waste of the earth's resources.
*
Not really laaa depend also... Steel frame is quite solid... the connector need a replacement so it can hold tight... unless the frame is so poorly made that it is not straight...else the steel frame should be fine... Rust just sand paper and send it to powder coat will last at least 9-10 years... dont paint as it will not last....

you need to know how to take care of steel parts.... majority cars made from metal I dont see cars getting rust everywhere

I dont think cycling is expensive hobby....

I started like 20 years ago with a Le' Run Mountain Bike.... then it got stolen like few years ago...

Then Since I'm in KL I'm looking for a folding bicycle... I bought mine for around 2K it is Peddle assist since now I bike to work sweat less is good since no one like smelly people around...

also I have a el chepo folding at home and my sis got another one around 300RM... quite satisfy with it...

If you need for a daily commute get slightly expensive since it is more reliable and less breakdown is good... but it will earn back it cost since I'm saving petrol...

for ride in the park my second one is el cheapo RM350 folding... it is Metal... it is very hard to fold and the China gear sucks... but I'm quite happy with my purchase since it get the job done... I just need a workout I'm not participating in some championship... and so far it work for me.... also I mount a baby seat behind so my kids can enjoy as well... if it broke I'll fix it... I doubt the China gear will last but a set of 7 speeder shimano is not expensive around 50... or so... lets see how it will last

Why are we talking about folding and speed???

Each bike has its own advantage... no one is dumb enough to say a RB can go mountain biking... good luck getting fall off....

Each bike has their own advantage.... and we choose the bike based on our needs... A folding is versatile to bring into public transport anytime... good luck getting a RB into MRT/LRT during peak hrs....

I bought a folding cause I live in apartment... space is a premium and I fold up the foldie to put into my car boot... try that with a mountain without a rack...

for Foldie people did endurance in it... it will be around 25-30kp/h sustain... which is OK for a bike...

if you want competition go buy a RM100K road bike

don't get me wrong, a folding bike can go the same distance at same speed like road bike just that you will have to pedal harder. same cadence same power output always a roadbike will be faster.
I go with roadbike due to the speed. i really do not have the time and power to go distance on a folding bike. with same effort i can go further or i can go same distance like folding bike with less effort.

You may be right for a stock foldie vs stock RB/MTB

but if you wan to go as fast as RB for a foldie there are some mod can be made... I have seen friends mod with higher gearing which made the folding as fast as a RB and according to him it is as good as a RB.... just need to mod the gear system to have it ride further and easier....

Each bike has their purpose... Folding is made for convenience to have the ability to fold to a smaller size to fit for transport....

be it a car, MRT, train or bus....

If you dont want to fold or never take advantage of the folding... then there are other options.... huhu

Couldn't wait myself and bought a java pro 3 in d end...
Grey with yellow colour...
Initial ride was okok only, feels the bike not that fast...
Maybe is because my weight, and too long nv cycle and exercise...
Will train myself to cycle start from around 1 hr per day, till my stamina is stable den maybe will join group cycle...

Btw,is it normal for folding bike to have some ding ding, like brake cable hitting body sound,or some metal to metal hitting...
And ngek ngek ngek like d body kena bend sound with folding bike?
Both not alwaz,jz sometimes, maybe going over bumps...
*
No such sound one wor.... maybe get some cable tie and tie up some loose end

Hi sifus,
will be getting a hybrid for myself soon, at the same time, was planning a foldie for me wifey/kids as well.
So I got limited budget for a foldie, wallet will be kinda dried after buying me own bike tongue.gif

Saw the Gammax brand, seems cheap around RM660 only, but how's the quality?
of cos I don't expect similar quality like those respectable brands, but I just need it to be lesser problems than those cheaper china foldies
*
I use Oscar RM300 folding cheap bike with China 7 speed Gear.... for a second bike / wife bike ok laaaaaaa slowly upgrade when got cash but frame is steel and solid make sure all the lock is tight
